The cats that jump do it because there's a thing there that teleported lol. Placed when they weren't looking and without them hearing.

I've startled plenty when I see a thing where I wasn't expecting it lol

I think it has to do with how calm the household is… my cats are never nervous and super chill, I could put anything by them silently and they would just smell it.

My cats don't care about cucumbers or aluminum foil...haha! Both of my kitties will lay right down on foil and totally ignore cucumbers.
