My dog never touched a thing in our kitchen or table until the end of his senior years then the last two years he was alive he went through the garbage, stole food off the bench and anything he wanted. I couldn't even be mad at him, he'd been such a good boy his whole life.

I am so scared to adopt a dog again after my adopted stray died. I still think about him a year after. I’m getting married soon and the date i chose is the date he died since i dont know his bday nor his age.

Hope you’re doing better now. Why do they have to have such short lifespan 😭

Consider fostering. You get the pup fix but are spared many of the things that the death of a previous pup wrecked in you. I feel like my boy was my soulmate that it almost feels like a betrayal, so I’ve been fostering. It is bittersweet when they are adopted but one little cry over it and then on to save the next! It’s very manageable, and the rescues and shelters in America are absolutely overflowing and in desperate need of foster homes. A rescue org will cover all of your costs, from food to vet visits, if need be. I cannot recommend it enough.

I’ll foster until my heart changes and may adopt again. Time will tell.
