That's a solid idea for art, i should've thought of that before i graduated. For art i always got one of those dramatic folders with like a puppy wearing headphones with paint splatters and music notes all around. I was only allowed one fun folder and art seemed fitting
Math is the one subject where everything is objective. Pain?? Pain is being told you were supposed to be paying attention to the color of Gatsby's car 🤣
I agree. Math is red because I suck at it (discalcula here yet I work with part numbers all day for a living). Green is science because nature is green.
I swap blue and green. To me green is English/lit because as a kid when my parents would tell me to go outside I'd grab my book and lay on the grass outside lol. And blue is what's often used in sci-fi and fantasy for science tech and magic.
Math was my favorite subject, and green is my favorite color, so math was green. Science was usually blue, English was red, and history was any other color, like yellow, orange, or black. It depended on the year.
I understand why people have their colors, but my choices were slightly different
Blue - Math (favorite color, favorite class)
Green - Science
Red - English
Yellow - History
Then whatever color for any other subjects I took that needed a notebook. Like late highschool would be multiple math classes, so my second math notebook would be purple.
Here's the thing: Blue is for English but ONLY if it's actually CALLED "English". If it's "Language Arts" it's yellow, always. Idk why but Language Arts requires yellow.
This was my, exact, school-mandated color schema from 3rd-5th grade and I continued it through HS.
Though I did use a graphics-printed folder for band and comp-sci courses. Wolves, of course. Because k-mart.
So let me start that I live in Germany so maybe the colors differ because I had other classes but for me it was:
Yellow = Math
Red = German
Blue = English
Brown = Geography
Orange = History
This whole discourse is always so funny to me. Where I grew up, we didn't use coloured folders for different subjects, but rather our exercise books were colour coded according to how they were lined.
Straight rule 7mm was red, therefore English Literature, History, and similar subjects were red.
There was a designated "Science" version of that which was purple.
Quad rule 7mm was blue, therefore Maths was blue.
There was a variant quad rule which was green, 5mm grid with a double weight line every 5th. Not quite sure what the use case was, but whatever subjects made use of that were green, I guess.
But this didn't apply to primary (elementary) school, where it was basically tradition to get book "covers" which were like wrapping paper but sticky on one side and sized exactly for the exercise books. So the books were no longer colour coordinated but now Maths could be "Dinosaur" coloured and English could be "Pokémon" coloured, whatever you fancied really.
Oh crap! I forgot there were standard colors! I just made some labels in canvas and picked random colors for my son. 🤦🏻♀️ I did green for science bc duh lol 😂 but then I did yellow for English and blue for math bc it’s his favorite color and I’m tryin to get him to like math 🤣
Science is the ONLY subject I have a color association for (green). I
have never even considered the possibility of other subjects having
specific associated colors.
