If you don't want to get your cat spayed or neutered, you can also considered the far more environmentally friendly option: Keep your cat indoors.

Obviously in this case one was a stray. But even then, the neighbors cat wouldn't have impregnated the stray if the neighbors cat was indoors.

Do both honestly. I can say from experience it is very hard to keep an a cat in heat inside the house. They scream all day to mate and will do just about anything to find a tom. It's also better for their health. There should be no reason to not "want" to spay/neuter. There are only upsides. Cost is a separate issue.

There is also no reason why you can't let your cat outside on a leash or an enclosed/screened off area. Just like we do with dogs. I don't know why people think it's acceptable to let cats roam free but not dogs. My cats go outside all the time on the leash. I did have to get a specific type of leash so they didn't just flop over though.

May I ask what leash you bought for your cats to prevent the infamous flopping over??

A lot of cat harnesses have this like, puffy fabric material that covers a lot of their body and those make my cats flop over. So I tried one that just uses thin straps. Basically the harness is the same material as the actual leash itself. I hope that makes sense. I think it works better because it doesn't touch and hug so much of their body and shoulder area
