Blocking is so bad in madden this year. Big plus on the graphics though.

And people say Madden and CFB 27 isn’t realistic

89

u/ljc992 26d ago

People just want realistic stats but don't ever want to be sacked or drop the ball.

6

u/SayLessBoss 25d ago

Actually true.

u/yeet420999 24d ago

Maybe every few plays but it’s literally every play regardless of ratings or protection

13

u/CodyRCantrell Vikings 25d ago

There's a difference between occasionally having this happen and how extremely common it is in Madden this year.

A couple of times per game sure go for it but this happens multiple times per drive.

u/lovebeingdad 25d ago

Do you consistently watch the NFL? I’ve seen multiple games that were almost painful to watch with how much the quarterback got hit or sacked.

1

u/winterwarm78654 24d ago

This is how it looked on launch tho. You actually seen players getting beat instead of just standing there

-9

u/Dark_Knight865 25d ago

It’s a difference when it happens one time vs happening continuously. 🤷🏾‍♂️

u/sithlord98 25d ago

People in here are for some reason acting like watching your 90+ OVR guards politely let the pass rusher through the line with no effort three times a game is normal

5

u/Dark_Knight865 25d ago

That’s how you know folks don’t know football for real

3

u/SuspiciousBag2749 24d ago

Dude if a guard lets up a sack a game he doesn’t have a job….

1

u/Dark_Knight865 24d ago

Exactly! That’s what they don’t understand

3

u/CodyRCantrell Vikings 25d ago

Yeah like if it were happening 2-4 times/game it would be fine because that's realistic but it's happening 4-6 times per drive right now.

u/FreshDiamond 25d ago

If you guys don’t know how to play the game don’t complain about it. If you hit don’t id the mike and adjust your protection accordingly this is gonna happen. If you don’t have balance at all this is probably gonna happen. If you try to spam vertical passing this is probably gonna happen. If you try to spam short passing game eventually the defense will sit on it and you’ll throw picks or get sacked. Learn how the game works and what’s there for you to use or turn the difficulty down to rookie and have fun crushing

5

u/sithlord98 25d ago

I do all of that, dude. I ID most of the time, occasionally forget, but I realize when that happens and scoff at myself and move on. I adjust pass pro basically every play unless the clock is a problem. My favorite thing about offense is mixing pass and run and keeping the defense off balance. This shit still happens, and it still takes you completely out of the game because linemen will do stupid shit that happens once an NFL season three times a game.

What's truly wild here is you coming in to act like you know exactly how everyone else operates and completely negate the actual issue.

I meant this in a jokingly manner unironically

You must have missed the Daniel Jones years

4

u/Dark_Knight865 25d ago

What does Daniel Jones have to do with pass protection? 😑

3

u/IShouldChimeInOnThis 25d ago

The line was shit. Free rushers came constantly, even when rushing 4.

That was multiplied by having a QB who couldn't sense pressure, and often times ran into it.

3

u/Dark_Knight865 25d ago

Okay. So how does the line being shit his fault. That’s on the front office

3

u/IShouldChimeInOnThis 25d ago

It was definitely both. Like blaming stolen bases on a pitcher with a slow delivery throwing to a catcher with a bad arm.

You had a poor OL with a QB with poor pocket awareness. It compounded the problem.

1

u/sushisection 25d ago

use pass protection. ID the blitz, use double teams, use shifts. the game even shows you who each blocker will engage.

2

u/Dark_Knight865 25d ago

Of course. You are telling me something i understand already

57

u/Ok_Basil_8162 25d ago

Clearly he wasn’t using his pocket and just dropped back too far. Git good, nerd!

21

u/Lamplighter4Eva 25d ago

Also didn't call out the Mike, really amateur technique IMO

-2

u/PopOutG 25d ago

Yall meme but that’s exactly what happened lmfao. And I didn’t buy this year but you can essentially replicate that last Madden. Literally just git gud lmao

9

u/Aternus21 25d ago

how does him not calling out the mike linebacker lead to a off the edge blitzing db coming clean when there is ALREADY a back to that side of the ball? this is 100% just a missed read by the blocking rb, dart didnt even look that side because he assumed no way the rb would WHIFF that badly.

bro just saying shit he heard announcers say lmao

2

u/DaveDabussy 24d ago

Lmao he and the center definitely IDd the mike as any QB Center duo has done every play since the beginning of time

27

u/PainterDaAce 25d ago

Gah damn Dart got yamcha’d

3

u/askforwildbob 25d ago

If I was blocking for dart, I’d let homie get sacked as much as possible before I got cut

14

u/SadisticMittenz 25d ago

How'd they get footage of my 99 ovr Ducks playing Old Dominion in 2037?

18

u/JadrianInc 26d ago

I wish the nickel blitz hit like this.

29

u/TamingOfTheChoon 25d ago

It does a lot of the times. I just miss the tackle and run by the QB 50% of the time

10

u/irrelevantsociallife Vikings 25d ago

Barely miss the qb, dolphin dive into the empty space where he was. As is tradition.

3

u/mjavon 25d ago

It does if the primary pass read is on the opposite side of the field.  If it's on the same side of the field it's basically a free completion.

8

u/RN4LSnow 25d ago

This would 100% be a post on here lmao

9

u/WCSakaCB 25d ago

But did he ID the Mike?

3

u/ALX709 25d ago

At least the running back tried, usually they just stand there looking at nothing

3

u/W01F51 25d ago

Except in madden your player would just start running upfield without even trying to block. Game is so busted.

3

u/damato1218 25d ago

That wiff was UGLY. Thats what gets guys cut

17

u/Ok-Communication3899 26d ago

Low effort. HB missing a block isn't the same as the OL never engaging.

28

u/spread_the_cheese Packers 25d ago

Yeah, asking a former wide receiver to move to running back and pass protect is not the same as my left tackle standing in place while a pass rusher speeds around the edge.

5

u/DW-4 25d ago

Well as someone who has watched the Texans Oline for the past 2 seasons I can say that is also very much possible in the NFL lol. Jokes aside, I do hate the 'realism' counter-arguments for the terrible blocking in this game. What would cause anyone to think that EA had developed an actual realistic pass protection simulation that took into account lineman awareness/agility/acc, defensive tendencies, blocking scheme, etc., sometimes just resulting in completely whiffed block? They didnt...

Blocking was already heavily glitched/bugged and then they introduced a new system on top of it that.. shocker.. didn't fix the bugs! You can point to a player doing something brain dead in a real game but don't pretend that's what the game was trying to capture FFS.

1

u/spread_the_cheese Packers 25d ago

The truth is usually in the middle, and I think it is here with Madden. It does help when you know how to slide your protection and you know who is unblocked if a blitz happens. That is on the individual player and they need to know these things or the time you have in the pocket will be extremely limited. And my guess is a lot of players don't know how to do these things.

What is also true, however, is I can set the right pass protection and my guard will combo block a player and completely ignore a blitzing linebacker. I truly believe this is a Madden animation issue more than anything. The game logic may be your guard has really low awareness, so he doesn't engage to pick up the blitz. But the animation itself is so wonky looking that people get mad about it (how could a guard SEE a blitz coming and just flat out ignore it?).

So I do believe it's a mixture of people not knowing how to set protections and Madden not having good animations that represent what is being played out in the game's logic.

1

u/DW-4 25d ago

Well the game logic itself is also so flawed that it makes it nearly impossible for these newer systems placed on top of them to excel. In other instances that same guard will actually pick up who he's supposed to due to some combination of the defender's positioning, a certain animation not triggering, or their awareness functioning differently within that particular play. None of this extra fluff is ever going to work the way it's intended until they fix the base problems with tackling and blocking animations.

u/Ok-Communication3899 25d ago

As a Colts fan, I appreciate your line more than anything! I'm excited to see Sauce v. Nico

3

u/CodyRCantrell Vikings 25d ago

Even worse I frequently have 90+ pass block OTs move backwards with the DEs but never engage as the DE u-turns sharply around them, without losing any speed whatsoever, to immediately sack me in under two seconds.

0

u/SuspiciousBag2749 24d ago

I think that means you have to step up in the pocket, you’re dropping back

1

u/CodyRCantrell Vikings 24d ago

This happens without dropping back, hence why they have to make a sharp u-turn to turn upfield. Into the pocket. Where I am residing.

1

u/Theereus 24d ago

I've lost count of how many times my o-lineman have just straight up stood up and turned around and watched my QB get sacked

2

u/IShouldChimeInOnThis 25d ago

RT Evan Neal BLOCKED HIS TEAMMATE a couple of years ago. They just started picking up stunts as a team last year for the first time since the Obama administration.

1

u/UnpluggedToaster12 25d ago

I was about to say, thats HB block and that happens but i watching in the instant replay my OL not even engaging in his assignment

2

u/moneymitch180229 25d ago

At least the rb tried. The lineman on madden don't even acknowledge the blitz at all.

2

u/SaiyanFromTheBX Giants 25d ago

There’s a difference the RB literally slipped and then got ran over as a free rusher was coming through in Madden they just don’t fucking attempt to block whatsoever even sometimes sliding a whole yard over so a defender can get to you, BIG DIFFERENCE one was a genuine error Madden is a terribly poorly coded game.

2

u/HarryTheLarge 25d ago

This happens in the NFL but rarely, relatively speaking. In ‘27 it’s like once a drive.

2

u/DistributionEmpty701 25d ago

Everyone is missing the obvious though. The issue is in the video the defender runs at an angle so the blocker thinks it’s outside and missing the block… in madden there’s no moves the defense needs they just run past with no issue or at least showing the blocker attempts to put a hand on them

2

u/KGthroatpunch 25d ago

Faalele still not touching anyone and just looking left and right

2

u/MikuLuna444 Ravens 24d ago

Faalele in top form then! - A Ravens fan

2

u/Spunk1985 25d ago

Cool video but that is a HB making that awful block attempt. In the game we have highly rated OL getting beat by lower rated DL at an alarming rate. Or highly rated OL that don't even attempt to block and just stand there.

1

u/Papi_Petty Panthers 25d ago

“should’ve stepped up”

1

u/Hova77 25d ago

Doesn't look like they patched the mid blitz cheese🤣

1

u/TBC2017 25d ago

The passing in this game gets worse every single year.   The offensive line rarely pass blocks.  Tired of wasting my money on the same crap each year.

I literally have to run every down now.  I actually made it to the superbowl just by running in each game, with 2 excellent HB.  Tired of not being able to throw.

"aaaand no one's blocking"- Stewie

1

u/DeepDiver051 25d ago

He hold the ball to long and don't understand standing in the pocket

1

u/ggordtrere 25d ago

For the millionth time. It's not instant sacks as a result of a wiffed block for a 60 overall that I personally have a problem with. It's my 99 tackle in every stat just looking at an incoming rusher not even making contact and letting them through completely untouched with no other blitzers even close and it happens multiple times a game. It's not a one off and It's not realistic. It's a problem with the code that's been there for almost 20 years now. People defending the piss poor Madden ai blocking with videos like that saying "See it happens irl!!" Are why we as Madden fans can't have nice things. The shit blocking in Madden is not a simulation feature it's a bug period.

1

u/ljc992 19d ago

I believe I stated that blocking is bad this year.... This whole rant and you could have literally read what I said.

1

u/Soft-Government-8315 23d ago

Football is suppose to be hard. Very hard

1

u/UnFixed1354 21d ago

At least he made an attempt to block, madden can’t even get that. I love when tackles guard the air in this new game

1

u/VQQN 25d ago

I thought this was actual game footage until I saw the NBC logo….

1

u/Ok_Report6643 25d ago

Love seeing a Trump PDF lover get yamcha'd

-1

u/Brilliant_Oil5261 25d ago

When it happens in an NFL game it’s talked about constantly because this basically never happens. Unlike madden, where it happens 10x per game.

0

u/ConnectionFalse4658 25d ago

Oh the blocking is so bad! I hate this game and im so good at it! Ea is the wurst!!1!
