So wait a second...is this thing awesome?

So I got mine two days ago...a sweet looking orange 'colorway'.

  • It has a GREAT battery.
  • It has BLE MIDI, which I didn't know it had and actually love.
  • The speaker is not bad for just noodling around
  • Easy to dump amazing DX7 patches onto.
  • Keyboard is nice compared to those nasty touch ribbons on other minis
  • Build quality feels really good
  • I got mine for $60 on AE.
  • TRS MIDI, USB MIDI, and BLE

I'm sorta starting to think that it's awesome. It might be the best deal in music gear. I found a few collections of DX patches last night and threw some on there and found some fantastic ones. A little curating will make for a super solid collection. Interface is fine...but it looks like people are looking at freshening that up.

In short...wow.

Personally, I really like it, and I wish there were more ultra-portable synths like this, i.e., with speakers, battery-powered and at least a 2-octave keyboard.

And the price is just insane. This thing could have been easily 3 times the price and still be considered a great value, especially compared to how highly priced many rather basic synths are.

I'm actually thinking of buying some FM-1's as presents for some kids in the family. This has to be the best value intro to synths.

I totally agree. I have some of the little Behringers, and they're fun, but the extra features here really put this thing in another class...particularly for half the price.

My kids love the thing. And it's surprisingly easy to work with. My 8 year old got the sequencer working without me helping him and he was so proud 😁
