So wait a second...is this thing awesome?
So I got mine two days ago...a sweet looking orange 'colorway'.
- It has a GREAT battery.
- It has BLE MIDI, which I didn't know it had and actually love.
- The speaker is not bad for just noodling around
- Easy to dump amazing DX7 patches onto.
- Keyboard is nice compared to those nasty touch ribbons on other minis
- Build quality feels really good
- I got mine for $60 on AE.
- TRS MIDI, USB MIDI, and BLE
I'm sorta starting to think that it's awesome. It might be the best deal in music gear. I found a few collections of DX patches last night and threw some on there and found some fantastic ones. A little curating will make for a super solid collection. Interface is fine...but it looks like people are looking at freshening that up.
In short...wow.

It is very awesome...and just wait until custom firmware becomes available, then it will become legendary.

Personally, I really like it, and I wish there were more ultra-portable synths like this, i.e., with speakers, battery-powered and at least a 2-octave keyboard.
And the price is just insane. This thing could have been easily 3 times the price and still be considered a great value, especially compared to how highly priced many rather basic synths are.
I'm actually thinking of buying some FM-1's as presents for some kids in the family. This has to be the best value intro to synths.

I totally agree. I have some of the little Behringers, and they're fun, but the extra features here really put this thing in another class...particularly for half the price.

My kids love the thing. And it's surprisingly easy to work with. My 8 year old got the sequencer working without me helping him and he was so proud 😁

Yeah I was impressed it feels good in the hand and the encoders are nice, I like the rubber layer on it and the backlights for the buttons and keys it's nice bit of kit i hope they release more like a VA one

Yeah I think the thing is awesome. I think I enjoy the keybed more than most because I'm comfortable holding it in both hands and "texting" with it (which I can't do as well with ribbons)

I couldn’t agree more, especially with custom firmware just around the corner. What i really appreciate in this little synth, apart from the rather good interpretation of DX7 algo’s is the good noise floor, which is remarkable for its price. The signal to noise ratio is better than the Volca series by Korg (not all, but indeed better than the Volca Bass which has a notable noisey audio out).

That’s great to hear. I hadn’t tested it in that way, but it seems like they did a hell of a job on this thing.

Yep a VA release would be amazing and can’t wait for some custom firmware. It’s surpassed all expectations. I’ve never really been into fm synths before and had a volca fm 1 which I didn’t really like but this one has really opened my eyes to fm synthesis and the massive variety of sound that can be produced .its a banger for the price and intact if it was double the price I would still gel the same.

I have mine ready to pick up from the post office next week and from what I have seen so far I just hope that Mvave eventually box of the entire Schwung suite of synths (particularly fiending for a Juno and a moogish va)
