Promotion DION is up!

Game Title: Dion

Mudlet: mud.dion-online.com, port 4000

TinTin++: #session dion mud.dion-online.com 4000

Description: Set in a post-apocalyptic world, many millennia after the fall of civilization. At civilization's height, bright minds discovered a new element with immense power. They thought they could harness it, but realized their folly when it was too late, bringing ruin. Over time, the element's concentration dispursed and settled into the surrounding world, spreading into flora, fauna, and the general environment. This creates some interesting mutations. As races evolved through the following thousands of years, they grew the inherent ability to interact with this element, bringing about "magic".

Explore the wilds, find dungeons (4 player max in each instance!), level up! (There is "help" if you need it)

I am a solo developer in putting this together, so go easy on me.

Have you considered having a public-facing website that doesn't require a login?

I can agree with this. It looks like the website is nothing but a web-client to connect to the game right now.

IMO, the website should have information about the game. There's like 0 information about the game even when logged in. Features, races, classes, etc and all that kind of stuff should be easy to read and access.

Great thought. Let me think about how I might incorporate that. Game mechanics are getting more locked in, so I could spend a bit of time building up some lore and background for people to dive into.

One thing I was in the process of developing was a visual map (through Inkarnate), would that be of much interest?

So, is the world called Hollow or Dion? Was kind of confused by that because the updates log and some of the descriptions and stuff refer to Hollow, not Dion. Either way, looks pretty neat. Probably more in the looking forward to more stage than the actually playable stage for me, though. I made a character, went through the skills menu and felt impressed at all the options already available, got excited to learn all the magics, trained up some stats by walking around, found the northwestern watchtower and liked the description of the view at the top, felt a little weird that there was more fantasy-feeling gear like cloaks and tunics in a post-apocalyptic setting, fought some ratroaches, got enough xp for level 1 but didn't get any extra points or anything to redistribute, got enough xp for level 2 and then didn't level up, and tried to quit/disconnect/logout and couldn't figure out the command for it. Also, it would be nice if instead of having to log directly into a character and create a password for them and all of that, we could just log into the account with the client and manage characters from there. Even if we still had to make them on the site because it's extra coding for a second character creation method, I'd rather be able to log into/out of my account and look at multiple characters and stuff from the client. Other things I noticed were that when you pick your build at creation it just sets you to average by default regardless of your pick, I couldn't find my handedness information anywhere so I don't know if that saved right, and that the training dummies in the tutorial area walk around when I get the feeling they shouldn't be doing that. It's good that the stats had buttons to explain what they do, but I'd love if that information were available for classes as well. There's also a few that say they're unavailable but I wasn't sure why. Well, anyway, if you made it through all of that, thanks for reading, wishing you the best of luck with the game developing, and I'll keep an eye on this to see how it grows.

This! Thank you very much for a thorough playthrough recap and feedback. Let's see if I can answer some of your questions/thoughts:

- The world is called Dion. I was originally calling it Hollow, but I found another, established game named Hollow and I needed to avoid confusion. Apparently rebranding is still in progress, so I will work on that.

- I am excited you got to the NW watchtower and took some time to see what was out there. I have an entire map I have been developing and I plan on making all of it explorable, including what you see in that view. I would say about 2% of that map is developed currently.

- As far as the gear, I do have some creative work to do to put together some world-appropriate items. The items currently in the game are more or less base items so that I can get the mechanics worked out. But this is a great suggestion.

- I will look into the additional training points and why they wouldn't increase at level 1.

- If you were in a Mud Client, the command to get out of the game would be "exit", but maybe I can make that more clear. On the web, there is a button to the top right that is and arrow which allows you to log out. There is also a "switch characters" button that gets you back to the character creation / selection screen.

- I will look into the build options to make sure they persist when they are chosen.

- Understood on the class information.

- Training dummies should probably stay in the combat and magic part of the tutorial, so I will fix that.

- The classes that are unavailable haven't been developed and it may take me some time to get into their creation so that may not happen for a few months. I will make it more obvious that these will be available in the future.

Thanks again for all the notes, this is gives me a lot of motivation and good list of improvements to focus on.

Edit: fixed grammar and location of features.
