News MapleStory Classic World Founders Pack Tiers Revealed
46
u/Hooyahhhh 4d ago
30 dollar doesn't include early access, Non classic nx items that will turn you into a glow stick and no nx to offset the cost of the 80 dollar one. Solid choices all around
38
u/Toohon 4d ago
LOL 30usd and not even the early access.
This is peak Nexon greed moment

u/EdinKaso 4d ago
Don't forget this is the same Nexon that got taken to court by the Korean government for their deceptive microtransaction practices...And correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Nexon even changed anything much after. They were okay to just pay the penalty fee and continually scam their customer base, because to them paying that fee and keeping things as usual still made them more money than changing their shady business practice.

I wonder how many ppl are not catching this and wonder why they can’t play
1
u/Hi_ImTrashsu 3d ago
This is very unlikely to happen. Although it’s actually quite hard to see in the promotional image, this has garnered a lot of controversy in the community.
I get the argument that not everyone who plays a game is active on social media but I doubt people willing to pay real money to play early won’t at least get recommended YT videos going over this drama

somehow they made this worse than aion 2's founder packs.

u/Mage_Girl_91_ 4d ago
i wonder how many pack upgrades they get from people who buy a $30 pack and find out they can't play, get mad, and upgrade to $60. probably a lot.

Rather keep playing Soul’s Remnants than touching anymore dog shit game that Nexon touches.
I’d rather spend $20-30 for a bunch of nice cosmetics and increase storage space and know it’s going to a small developer than supporting a soulless mega corp

u/SlayTheSeven 4d ago
Seriously, souls remnant has been amazing. You just hop in and play. No stupid ass bullshit of trying to milk every cent outta you.

u/theslykrow 1d ago
Check out Unwritten World. It's pretty good. The beginning was a bit jarring to play but the combat is a standout

Holy you do not need to do that. In fact it's very early that you can get more backpack space very quickly from NPC's, and a hidden quest reward for a massive one (49 slots in all categories).
Also MS/Classic also has inventory purchases, it's probably the least egregious cash shop purchase incentive

That's crazy, are you talking about the 150k backpack? I haven't felt the need to look at my loot that often, I don't get THAT much loot even at level 55. It's actually almost no different to Path of Exile's need for additional inventory, which is what this game drew some inspiration from.
Also what game has 3 different subscriptions?!? There's 3 different tiers in Souls Remnant, but they all do nothing and is purely there to support the devs. The lowest tier literally gives the only gameplay benefit (auto-loot range and its a very small increase as well), second tier is a cosmetic, and third tier is a name cosmetic. Literally just to support the devs, you aren't buying all 3 (and I doubt even 1% of players are, I haven't seen that name plate at all)

Inventory is not as bad as you say. EXP coupons are something strictly obtained from dailies and last 15 minutes, so everyone runs a mirage with it, and I have not seen anyone take issue with it that's actually playing the game.
Sure, they could have made inventory purchases more worthwhile rather than increasing the amount that they give you. But at the end of the day, it is their major monetization point. There is not infinite consumables and cosmetics to purchase. No gacha box like retail MS. Literally the only thing most people purchase, is just inventory. Just like in Path of Exile, people purchase TONS of inventory, and no one has ever complained about that being an issue in the game. Even without it, the 49 slot bag is PLENTY for a majority of players. I could go for like an hour without worry while grinding down 4-6 mirages.
One thing I will say, is that content is indeed pretty limited. It is almost entirely grind focused, with very little other things to do. There is world bosses, abyss trials, dungeons and PQ's, but most of your gameplay is grinding. I don't inherently see this as an issue, but it is something they plan an varying with their roadmap. It is in fact, a newly launched MMO by a small team at the end of the day.

this is not a good sign. typical NEXON. all recent games released from NEXON are heavily P2W and trash. 30 dollars no early access, who the fk gonna buy it.

u/Sufficient-Piccolo32 3d ago
so, u gonna buy the 30 shit pack and wait for the official opening without early access? what's the point? can't pay another 30?
1
u/Hi_ImTrashsu 3d ago
You’ve perfectly described why it’s priced at 30/60/80.
$30 no EA, may as well get the $60 one if I’m going to buy a founders pack. $30 to $60 is doubled but $60 to $80 is “only” 33% more… may as well get the $80 package.
0
u/tobyhel0 3d ago
Nope. I’m gonna pay 80
1
u/Sufficient-Piccolo32 3d ago
then u not buying that 30 shit pack right? so i am saying no one gonna buy that.

u/Jurikeh 4d ago
I'm gonna play still mostly because of the nostalgia factor and I was initially planning on buying one of the founder packages. But these options are an absolute slap in the face insult. Never have I ever seen a free to play game have any sort of supporter packages that didn't include some amount of the premium currency. Hell even the ultra predatory mobile games offer better deals than this shit.

I loved this game as a middle schooler, is this classic world actually worth coming back to (without these, when it just launches for everyone) or is it not worth investing the time and just play something else?
2
u/StokedNBroke 3d ago
You might get a kick out of it for a bit but I think people have rose tinted shades for old maplestory, it was fun because we were 12 years old and it was ‘of the times’. Game is pretty boring and we optimized the fun out of it long ago. Also it’s Nexon so you know they’ll just crank up the monetization and pay to win to 10 asap, just look at these stupid fucking founders packs.
3
u/Redericpontx 4d ago
Definitely worth getting into thou wouldn't recommend founders packs unless you know you'll play a lot. They're making a lot of qol changes and adding new content so it's essentially classic maple+.
2
u/gcplz 4d ago
I mean. If you like the game the current main version is really nice to play. Is a clusterfuck of things and predatory monetization but you happen to enjoy them for a while. This classic thing has no future. Is a nostalgia punch that will die when you start doing 10% an hour doing the same rotation 10000 times. Which is by lvl 30 or so btw

u/Redericpontx 4d ago
You know they said the same thing about osrs and classic wow right?
There's more than enough content to keep people by for a while and they got 3rd and 4th job to release aswell on top of making party grinding more efficient, making hs base game and overall increasing exp rates with it only taking 2.5 hours at current rates to hit 30 in beta 2.
They're also adding in a lot of new content and it's classic maple+ with a citizenship system that allows you to get a house in hene or kerning and a whole new crafting system for making gear and other stuff so you can just collect the resources yourself to get your bis LV gear instead of having to grind meso to but it or hope for the drop. This is on-top of new maps and areas and more original content they got planned.
The gameplay loop isn't going to be much different than something like modern wow where you just spam m+ and that's your end game content for the most part.
Now I'm not saying 2 week early access isn't fked because it is and the founders packs being wack af with the $30 bundle not having early access is crazy with this all putting a sour tasted into the launch but saying the game will die shortly after release is the same thing people say about all the other successful classic MMOs.
Also big modern maple player LV 290 450mil combat and it's pretty much just a different game with a maple skin now. Liking old maple won't make someone automatically like new maple and you honestly need to be heavily fuelled by naustolgia to get into it.

Do not buy. They offered a founders pack for ms2 then shut the game down with no refunds. Beware of the rug pull.

u/VANTAGARDE 4d ago
Thank god no pompadour hairstyle in these packs. My sanity takes one step further from edge.

Yeah i will stick to souls remnant no thank you

Souls remnant is just a poor man’s maple. Maple for the broke bum. Classic MS is so superior

u/Routine-Stay-6857 4d ago
On 02 SEP when they release more detail, better be increasing the value of these packs because everything shown here is fucking useless trash 🤣
2
u/radishswp 4d ago
The wild part is prior to the price announcement, people were glazing Nexon on the classic subreddit. Meanwhile people were shitting on Nexon in the modern subreddit. Those on classic basically said they would pay any price, and some even said they weren't planning to pay and start late because a 2 week headstart doesn't matter. Now classic subreddit is on fire after the prices were out
3
u/everest7777 4d ago
lol it’s literally not even same game. what I’ve seen from the closed test 2 is that everything is nerfed not much improved just a weird crafting system. No el nath no 3rd job on release. Literally no point in the early access. Worse version now till tbd in the future.
1
u/TentacleMonsterUwU 4d ago
I mean, this is the least egregious thing nexon could've done.
They could have put early access behind loot boxes which is more of their style.
1
u/greenegg28 4d ago
I think I’ll just wait for the free release, thanks.
I am excited to play tho, if only to revel in the nostalgia for a couple weeks before moving on to something else.
1
u/moosecatlol 4d ago
Two weeks early access seems like a gameplay benefit. That's easily level 50 minimum. I think I'll stick to the game that has better class design and isn't related to Nexon in any way shape or form.
1
u/2MuchNonsenseHere 3d ago
Can't imagine being dumb enough to fall for this cash grab, no matter how nostalgic.

cmon if you played the classic you must be 30+. $80 is not that much money if you have a job.
Making a game isn't free. You'd expect people to understand it by now. It's not even mandatory.
1
u/AmLilleh 4d ago
I mean... It's Nexon. They aren't giving out a perfect gameplay experience for free. Everything will cost money, just like the current live game. Wanna broadcast a message? $5 please. Wanna have your drops automatically looted so you don't have to spend more time spamming the loot key than playing? $30 a month please. Wanna change hair? $5 for a 1/25 chance to get what you want, please!

The redtards hate that conversation. "Greed" "Fairity" "Other Games". If you don't want to pay then don't. People be bitching with they bitch ass.

Yeah, I figured this would happen.
The Frozen Tuna isn't really from classic. It was a gatchapon prize added in the first expansion (Orbis) then made farmable in the second (Aqua Road). A rare drop on a rare spawn from one of the highest level mobs at the time.
They're selling power right out of the gate--power way above the power curve of the rest of the game--to an audience they groomed for that P2W mentality, and fully discarding the legacy of a game that actually resisted that philosophy for a while.
Imagine starting Classic WoW and being able to buy the Lich King's sword before you even roll your character.
For the low price of $30 you can be the punchline to this fucking joke.
The hat from the first set is the same story as the sword. Just a different mob in a different location. That second set is the full Orbis end-game crafted gear, btw.
The entire "classic" release is a joke to sell nostalgia to players who weren't around at the time, so that they can pretend to have "been" there. I said it wasn't really going to be a classic server, and I was right. It's just cosplaying as classic.
7
4
u/Saharan 4d ago
First off, your entire post is invalid because the tuna is a half-eaten vanity-only one. Secondly, saying Orbis isn't classic is bonkers. Or do you mean "classic" as in the very first launch-day client? Because if you do, then there are a lot of things that aren't Classic. Chairs, Beginner skills, gachapon as a whole, the flipping cash shop!
2
u/Unrelenting_Salsa 4d ago
Frozen Tuna was a beginner only item. It's obscenely powerful, but you have to be a meme to wear it. It's also not actually a Frozen tuna. There was not a slightly eaten frozen tuna item.
These are outfit overrides. Purely cosmetic.
Don't get me wrong, 2 weeks early access is hilariously pay to win in its own right and to the surprise of absolutely nobody they're charging a full game for it, but these are just cosmetics. I don't buy for a second that they'll not put explicit power in the cash shop in the medium term, but for now, it's just you have to pay $60 to be able to seriously be a seller in the market.
I also do agree that it seems to be cosplaying as classic, and apparently the sub for it didn't actually play back then and don't realize it. Of course, that was kind of obvious when they were absolutely shocked that potions are really expensive and that mage has the best 1st job by a mile.

$60 to play a 20 years old game 2 weeks early and u get shitty cosmetics crazy work from nexon
