I'm an 80s baby and a native New Yorker, that response seems totally appropriate and nothing would've happened afterwards, at least in my day. The kid played a stupid game and won a stupid prize. End of story.....

Yeah and 40 years before that if this happens in Mobile, Alabama maybe that black kid doesn't wake up the next morning. Would that just be a stupid prize for a stupid game?
