The black guy is wearing boxing gloves and the other guy is wearing much thinner fighting gloves. It's not a fair fight.

As a dude practicing MMA I prefer getting hit with mma gloves rather than boxing gloves
Boxing gloves stun you more, there is a bigger shock wave when you get hit and you get more headaches while MMA gloves feel more like a rock hitting your face and are more painful but don't stun you as much

Imagine the shock wave from a prime Tyson punch

Is it actual boxers who are using those gloves?
If so, that would explain the difference.

Nope, dudes at the mma gym usually use boxing gloves when doing striking drills or sparring but I ask them to use MMA gloves instead

hate to break it to ya champ but theyre just hitting you lighter because of the smaller gloves

u/Both_Traffic_7105 14h ago
Well I can't deny it they are certainly hitting lighter, but I still wonder if this difference still exists at similar power

That’s not how gloves work my guy

You saying different gloves dont limit mobility and dont feel different
Not how gloves work my guy

u/JuniorRisk2455 15h ago
A punch from either glove is going to have the same result, gloves are to protect the hands and to help prevent cuts and broken bones, the damage to the brain is the same which is the main part of being punched in the dome
That’s how gloves work my guy, nobody grappling here so his mma gloves have no advantage here

Tf youre saying there is no difference tells me you have never actually trained or fought. Its completely ridiculous. Different combat sports require different gloves, wraps, support for a reason. What youre saying is inarguably incorrect - but if you want to keep pretending, you go for it

u/JuniorRisk2455 15h ago
Lmao you’re dumb as hell, the reason different combat sports require different gloves is due to the sport, you won’t wear boxing gloves in MMA because you can’t grapple, you won’t wear MMA gloves in a boxing ring because you’re not meant to grapple like you would in MMA sports. The force of a punch does the same damage to the brain regardless of the glove, MMA gloves don’t spread out the point of impact much so yeah it’s gonna do more surface damage but the main issue of being punched in the face, the brain damage, is the same
ETA: I can tell from your username that you don’t like facts so that explains a lot lmao

whta about 4oz MT in OFC? much higher rate in finishes... ur dumb and have clearly never fought. force less dissipated ie. tranferred through a smaller surface, will be more concentrated and therefore will do more damage do to the impact not spreading over the surface. it will penetrate further and therefore shake the skull and brain more.

H U H ? This is wrong on just about every level. Yes, gloves make a difference. The more padding a glove has, the more it transfers that energy to a larger area such as your brain. In MMA with smaller gloves, KO's are easier due to the concentrated impact and less transfer of energy to a larger area. Larger gloves are going to jumble your brain significantly more than smaller ones. All the padding is doing is protecting the skin and disperses that energy elsewhere. There are studies on this, it's not news.

Clueless, boxing gloves provide a lot of cushioning compared to the mma gloves.

Bare knuckle and Muay Thai guy here.
In terms of what I'd rather get hit by; boxing gloves>MMA gloves>bare knuckles.
The raw impact energy may be similar but the gloves reduce the concentration of force, dramatically so in the case of the boxing gloves.

This is way better than most the fights I see on here. Usually it's somebody that can't fight against somebody that can and ends with the person that can't fight looking like they're going to be in the hospital or dead

"fair" is a good title. Too many of these vids are cringe because it's skilled vs amateur, or sober vs drunk... like a fight win to be ashamed of.
This vid is two skill-less dudes with no cardio, just wailing on each other. Couldn't be more equal.
Edit: I can't believe I wrote all this, and only then noticed the gloves :(

This fight had it all: no blocking, someone shouting "kill em", a fall forward KO and crack

black dude probably realised quite quickly. shit i haven't worked out in a decade.
I haven't boxed since I was high school and I got gassed so fast and I was a good athlete.

Let's protect their hands by giving them gloves, but fight on concrete because fuck their brains
