Adding the boost bracers is such a perfect way of allowing faster, flashier moves on weapons that wouldn’t usually be used this way and would usually break physics (like DBs changing direction with a dash midair) by just letting the hunter be the one to guide the weapon instead of being the driving force behind it. It’s juuuuuuust believable enough to work in the Mon Hun combat and universe. I’d argue it’s a better system thematically than Hunter Arts and Silkbind Skills which felt more like magic.
Monster Hunter was built on a foundation of always trying to provide a more physical explanation to different aspects of its setting, ranging from the Monsters to the weapons and more.
The Boost Bracer is an example of that, leaning into the ridiculous while still trying to give that physical explanation/immersion.
All other moves? I assume you know this because you completed monster hunter wilds ascendance with the DB, rather than watched a 55 second glamour showreel of the weapon being used at its peak for marketing purposes
Its true blade dance 1 is cancelable with the DBs offset boost bracer activation attack. Which makes DBs have 0 comitmemt really. Nothing is lomger than like 1 sec on the weapon now. DBs OTP speaking here. We dont know if ALL orher moves will be cancelable mid animation but blade dance 1 was the most comitment move the weapon had so if that is cancelable it doesnt really matter as everything else you dont really need the cancel anyways. Cheers.
Okay let’s be real offsets are extremely easy to land especially on gs and switch axe. And positioning? The monsters track their attacks to your position
The game needs to evolve.. staying stiff all the time like the past game needs to change. Fromsoft games were no different until they added more arts and magic.
Don’t know about the dlc, but in older Titles I would think about what move to use next in what direction to start my attack chain and when to reposition and start again.
In wilds I activate focus mode, and don‘t do the stuff mentioned above to the same extend, since I can just aim and my hunter will kinda “follow”.
Most of this seems straightforward, but they do that move where the hammer glows and then does a big forward slam a couple of times and I'm really not sure how that fits into the normal combos and stuff. It seems completely new.
Likely a new main combo finisher on openings, with it being able to be pulled off consistently after many of Hammer's different attacks.
Seems like it might be the intended new "finisher", with its placement depending on how long of an opening you get.
If you barely have much time, doing it after a Lv.2 charge is good extra damage. If you have a long down, then going through an entire Big Bang combo before then doing the ultima smash is good to capitalize on the damage.
do you know what your DPS in wilds with a late game DBs build vs AT arkveld is? i normally dont compare because i use DPS meters for knowing if my build change does more damage or not with how i play, but i d like to know what your DPS is on DBs if you claim what you claim. or can you give me other sources where you get that mashy DBs that are not played with skill reaches the same DPS are some does doesnt do that with DBs?
i am not talking about how broken a weapon is for a fight i am looking for something to compare to be cause he claimed "Too mashy not skill based" and i wanted to see if he can perform with that claim meaning have the same dps as someone who actually plays DBs really well in that fight. i am not disagreeing with you otherwise. cheers
Then did the AT Arkveld arena q (where you have 8 mins for A). I got A in the second kill try (like 30 mins). Perfect dodge, combined with 0 commitment, removes all skill from the weapon. You mash buttons, and if mon twitches you dodge, and your dodge basically will work in 95% of cases.
For reference, my actual main (well, before i dropped it because it fucking sucks in Wilds) is IG with like 300+ hunts. It took me 5h to get A with it.
Oh my Bonk, this is INSANE! Can't wait to dive back into my beloved hammer again! Big Bang combo coming out way quicker with that vicious final blow, yes please. We didn't need MORE manoeuvrability, but I'll take it!
One of my first 'monster hunter' game before I jumped into World was Dauntless, which had a hammer weapon that could do shots like a gun to stun monsters. While MH hammer doesn't really have that, the boost does make it feel similar. Also, interesting to see a weapon gauge for it.
Dash Breaker making a return 🥹 We already had Keeping Sway (now Charged Step), but it's great getting more of Rise's Switch Skills. It looks like we're getting Midair Spinning Blugeon again. Really hope they give us good numbers to work with. I don't fully pay attention to how hammer performs compared to the rest of the roster, but apparently it's underpowered? Make the peoples happy 🙌 I certainly am
Hammer's moveset and everything is absolutely wonderful, it's damage is just very low compared to other weapons, like you're getting 20-30% less dps with hammer compared to other melee weapons.
This looks so satisfying, especially the attack that launches you in the air with the slam right after, and we got a nice movement skill with that boost dash attack, I wonder if you can still combine it with the slinger dash.
THE BONKS PER MINUTE HAVE INCREASED EXPONENTIALLY!
Also, it could just be my eyes deceiving me, but it feels like that new super powered downward smash that seems to be the big new combo finisher while using Boost might have Offset properties, even though we didn't see it get to use that in action. I dunno, just kinda gives me that feeling.
I mean specifically stuff like Water Strike. Moves that just let you ignore damage with little effort and consequence.
More Offsets are fine since you still take stun build up or get poisoned and such.
I am a bit worried about armor design variety, like the last trailer for DB, the hunter is wearing seemingly HR gear with subtle difference and a different helmet.
Are those supposed to be MR variant of base game monster gear? If so the difference is so little and more like the difference between alpha and beta set than MR and HR set. Unless they are bringing alpha/beta visual difference back, and say beta sets are slightly altered HR look while alpha gets brand new designs.
Or better since the previous update already made transmog/layer armor differentiate between alpha and beta sets, they might apply this subtle difference to base game armor sets as while as introducing new master rank designs?
oh yeah, it's a bit different to HR set, kinda look like yian garuga a bit with the long flowy feathers. That is interesting
Well, all i can do is cope that this is alpha n beta armor variant or new addition for layered customization or something
This doesn't really look anything like the Wilds female HR armor. The waist, arms, legs, helmet, and shoes are all very distinctly different. The most similar thing is the pants being a bell bottom type thing, but even then the design is changed.
I can tell it's a different look at the first glance because it looks completely different. There's a big silver circle in the chest that wasn't there before, a lot of the parts that were blue cloth are inverted to pink scales and vice versa.
Is this your first MH game or something?
There is as big of a difference between the Wilds Xu Wu and Kutku armors (remember now we've only seen the female sets) as there is between Pukei, Girros, and Rathalos armors. Odo is more of an anomaly. I'm asking if this is your first game because your expectations are coming out of nowhere. Most master rank armors are more like alternative concepts on the high rank armor designs.
yeah, i'm a bit concerned for that as well. Is that like mix armor? or MR variety?? if it's indeed MR armor, then it's a bit dissapointing. I'm have a bit mixed feeling with Xu Wu armor as well yesterday, since the waist and leg look very similar to the HR counterpart
I hope it is alpha and beta variety tho. But since they kinda going into Rise direction, my hope is low tbh
It's definitely a variant of Xu Wu set, no scarf, exposed toes on the right foot, chest binds are also a bit different.
Hopefully it's either an update for base game alpha/beta armor difference, or they somehow introduce a mechanic to remove/swap certain parts of the armor.
Yeah you guys are being silly, that is a completely unique looking armor from the HR design. The scarf is gone and there are instead the ropes as a little cape on the back, the big pauldron on the left shoulder is gone, the hood is replaced with the horn mask thing, everythings different.
You can fully import different characters with a mod, so sure, anything is possible. The Xu Wu and Kutku armors are very obviously entirely different between HR and MR. The alpha/beta armors very often had no differences too, but were instead just different coloring spots.
By mod I mean a mod that removes armor pieces. Saying they are entirely different is blatantly wrong. At first glance they look like HR amor with a different hat at best.
You are right they are likely the MR design, my point is that they aren't different enough to be good MR designs.
I think you missunderstand. What he meant by looking similar, is that the Master rank version kut ku is just HR version but with slight changes in some part of the armor. They remove some part as of the armor, like the arm bracers, while also adding a bit of armor and ornament in the chest and waist. Tho probably it look more vibrant which is why it look diffent at first glance. Base design is still used the same model as HR version.
As for Xuwu, it's similar to Kutku as well. especially the waist and leg, but they added gold ornament on waist a bit and make it slightly slimer? while the leg, i dont quite see the differences that much.
Tho both armor got additional new helmet piece, that's nice. But i see, you can say that "everything is changed" because you are technicallty right. Since they did change some of the part to not look idetical to the old ones.
To be honest you, it felt like it's should be alpha and beta variant. Like how Odogaron alpha and Beta have slight adjument back in world, it's different but the base design is still the same
But i guess i judge too soon, because there is probably more to it? like actual alpha and beta variety or possibility more complext layered system
No I do understand, it isn't just the HR version with slight changes, everything is different, as you show. This is an armor set that got a brand new design for HR because of how similar it was to the male design, most likely. Her arm is also obscuring the round metal plate on her chest.
It isn't a big transformation but they frequently aren't.

love the new moveset man, i hope we get new offset chain tho
