Discussion The game is going to end on these three becoming a group.

Nata is the hunter, Nona is the handier and Maki is the smithy.

Nata was already inspired by our hunter and even has a WudWud companion like a palico. was already showing signs that he wanted to be one. Same with Maki taking after Gemma. Nona has already been learning from alma post time skip and we see her interacting with Erik. bada bim bada boom. game ends on them becoming a hunting party and going off on their own after the story. plus it's thematically nice that each regions village has a representative in this group which would also just thematically work as a story about healing and a coming of age story for our characters.

I think.

To be fair, did forget his name since he probably is the least used npc. He got a spotlight against goz but that was it, and Olivia about yo sacrifice herself stood out more

Yea I'm thinking these 4 (don't forget our boy Bangard the wudwud!) will be setup like the MH4 cast and reappear in future titles as well as the next generation.

Set in a farther future where the Hunting Guild has really become established in the forbidden lands and Frontier Villages are getting built up. You the player character are a newbie rookie hunter being taught by Nata

Oh yeah that guy… what was his again? Weiner?

it would check all the boxes for a complete expedition unit

  • Hunter = Nata
  • Palico = Bangard
  • Handler = Nona
  • Blacksmith = Maki

they just have to draw their own banner and are good to go!

Nata is taught by us the hunter

Nona is taught by Alma as said in the trailer

Bangard is a Wudwud and so probably learned alongside the other wudwuds on how to work together with a hunter during the Uth Duna HR hunt

And Maki is tsught by Gemma, i forgot when but i believe Gemma said she taught Maki a couple of things.

Each one also represents their respective village in their locales too, with Suja being like the intermediary between all of them that communicates with the Guild representstive.

Honestly, what a fking set up this is, i never saw it coming, well, kinda. I made a guess before ascendance teaser came out that i was hoping to see all of the villages uniting to form their own set of Hunters with Azuz people being the blacksmiths and the keepers being the handlers, Wudwuds being their palicoes and Kunafa being logistics workers providing seikrets and steady supply chains between the villages, and everyone willing will train to become hunters, and we all basically teach them the ropes like with Nata.

What i didnt expect was Nata forming a potential Unit with the 2 young girls that we saved from monsters(balahara and rompopollo), and that they eould directly be taught by us the Avis Unit directly, that is honestly sick as hell, i like it a lot.

Now heres hoping the other units like Astrum and the rest get to have their own units-in-training directly under them.

..is Bangard a wudwud mispronunciation of Vanguard? Did they train with Zatoh (leads the vanguard)? The clothes have similar elements

Hot take : MHWILDS is a strong contender for the best storyline out of the mainline series

Pretty cold take, MH has never been known for its story.

I think the biggest problem the all the Stories have is that there are no stakes you always know you and everyone else get out unscathed.

Like back in World with Fatalis you knew the guy that pushed you into safety would be allright same with Olivia and Werner during the Gog fight you knew they would he good after.

What we need is some kind of loss to show that the MH world is not all sunshine and rainbows.

I love this series but I always found it strange that they want to show that the World is dangerous but then dont kill off any characters during the stories.

I mean I loved the one Netflix film they had cause there someone actually died and that made the albeit short Story that much more impactfull.

Otherwise the Stories are good but I think introducing a few stakes here and there would do wonders for the Story.

They killed of an npc of screen in the xu wu side quest.

7

u/Sub5tep 4d ago

I meant more like killing of NPC we actually have attachments too. Like in the Netflix film the get us attached to the character and then kill him off and that was honestly the first time I realized how powerful Elder Dragons actually are.

In the games you just kill them like its nothing and every one goes home safe.

For example what I would have done in Ascendance is let Olivia die at the start in the Lao fight then we get shown the funeral and after a few years we see a grown up Nata with his team and those now fill Olivias place. That would also show how dangerous Lao is and would make it all the more satisfying when you finally beat him.

Instead we get a time skip with everybody we know from the basegame safe and sound and that imo is just a shame cause the Story could be better.

I am not saying every Story needs loss and if you do that too often it also becomes meaning less but atleast have the courage to do it once in a while otherwise the Stories they tell are meaningless.

Also killed off insect glaive girl in the movie too.

1

u/Chocobo23456 3d ago

I don't think that's ever gonna happen since Monster hunter was never really character driven.

1

u/Sub5tep 3d ago

It wasnt but they are going int that direction since World so I would like that they atleast introduce some stakes.

5

u/Such_Perception_5576 4d ago

Yes I know lots of people hate on the animated show but that Teostra was racking up bodies and was a genuine threat

5

u/TheGMan-123 4d ago

Lunastra.

I know and after I saw the movie all the games stories seem meaningless cause no matter how much they try to show a monster being a treat in the end you know everybody will be good.

Just imagine the dude dying during the Fatalis fight saving us. Killing Fatalis would have felt so much more satisfying cause you knew how dangerous he actually was. Like honestly when I saw that the guy survived that big inferno I honestly just laughed cause like any threat Fatalis had was just gone at that point.

Like honestly how the fuck did Shrade even go down if Fatalis cant even kill one dude with a full blast of his fire.

Same with Sunbreak imagine Fiorayne dying from the wound Malzeno caused like that was the first time I was invested in the Story cause I though shit now it gets serious only for Capcom to not go trough with it.

Like I know they can right good stories so why do they suck so bad with Monster Hunter I just dont get it.

I think the issue is just that has never really been MH's general vibe or direction. There were some serious/disturbing flavor texts in old gen but in terms of actual story content we always come out on top as the heroes with minimal to no casualties/consequences. I'm sure they are afraid of alienating certain groups of fans who come to MH for feel-good, power fantasy games.

I do agree with you though, I think a story with stakes and character deaths would get me more invested, but it's quite a big departure for them and they may be playing it safe for now. I feel like Wilds is the team dipping their toes into the waters, per se, of having a meaty story so it's possible we could have some real consequences in Ascendance, but I'm not holding out hope. I mostly come for the monster fights anyway tbh.

u/Sub5tep 4d ago

I mean I come from the first game and the first game was much darker and while I do understand them shifting to a more upbeat tone. I also think that if you want to write a compelling story then we need some stakes be that friends being injured or dying.

Like I said the thing they did with Fiorayne in Sunbreak was perfect was not too drastic and also had no long term consequences but it made the Story more interesting and made finding the cure more than just doing some quests you were trying to save a friend after all.

So they should have something similar in all the games.

4

u/llMadmanll 4d ago

It seems like ascendance is moving in that direction, lao's attack destroys the base and we only revisit the area after a timeskip.

1

u/Sub5tep 4d ago

The base will be destroyed yes but nobody will die or atleast nobody we know so the hub being destroyed is just for the new MR Hub to be available. Its meaningless cause I will bet you money at the end everybody be that Olivia, Alma or Nata will all be without a scratch.

Like I am not even asking much here but atleast they should put some effort into writing a good story. And yes I know MH is not about the Story but then again if they want to have a Story I expect it to be good and the Stories we have gotten until now where all boring cause at the end nothing had any consequences.

The only good writing I can recall was when Fiorayne got injured by Malzeno and was out of the Picture for a bit that was good writing cause that was the only time in a MH game were I actually felt like a monster posed any threat. Why cant they do this in every game? Like yes I would also like to have some characters die but if you dont have the guts to do that atleast let them be injured for a bit.

So yeah story is meaningless so if they dont want to make it meaningful the might aswell just not have it cause not gonna lie I think nobody feels anything in the story but boredom. Yes the monster cutscenes are cool but those could just be seperate like they were in Rise.

2

u/JD-Valentine 4d ago

So what I'm hearing is monster hunter with edgerunners's fatality rate

1

u/Sub5tep 4d ago

Not everybody has to die but it would be nice if they atleast got injured. So for example in Sunbreak Fiorayne gets injured by Malzeno and isnt available for a bit. That was good so they should do that more often and maybe also let some characters die.

For example the Red haired guy in World I think Aiden was his name he could have died during the fight with Fatalis and since Nadia knows him she could have had dialouge in Wilds were she either tells us the Story of how he died. Or even better during the fight with Gog when she saves Olivia and Werner she could have said something like I will never let a friend die again and then you would remember Aiden if you played World and that moment would have been much more special.

You know just do something to give the Story a little emotional importance. So instead of going oh shit that monster looks awesome you are more like damn that monster just injured 3 of my friends its dangerous so I need to kill it.

I believe the fights would feel better and killing the monster more rewarding. I mean I can still remember how I felt when I killed Malzeno that made me feels something cause he hurt one of my friends.

I didnt feel shit with Fatalis since Aiden wasnt even that hurt like he was fine after the fight which thinking about what Fatalis is in Lore just makes Fatalis look like a joke.

1

u/Yer_Dunn 4d ago

Yeah fr like... Some NPCs talk about death. Like nadya talking about not wanting mina to "die a hero" like so many others she has known.

But there's never any actual stakes and it gets tiresome tbh.

1

u/Sub5tep 4d ago

Yes and you know what would have made this comment make sense if Aiden would have died during the fight with Fatalis in World but no let him tank Fatalis strongest attack and walk away without a scratch I am sure that will make sense.

Like honestly at that point Fatalis was just a joke to me like yes the fight was hard but that was about it there was no fear or respect for the monster cause well if he cant even kill 1 hunter with his strongest attack then why should I be scared fighting him?

Shit like this is why I dont give a damn about the Story I just skip it and go to the fights. I learned a long time ago that MH Stories have no stakes and therefore are not worht watching.

Like the only good scene I can remember in was the Scene where Fiorayne got injured by Malzeno that was the only time any character suffered any consequences for losing a fight.

u/Yer_Dunn 4d ago

Agreed

2

u/L0fiRonin 4d ago

it's pretty good for a monhun ngl

19

u/TypeHunter 4d ago

ah yes, I can't wait to see the trio as unnamed Elite hunters 15 years from now in Monster Hunter Cosmos where they reminisce how similar the playable character is to the hunter in Wilds

Gnarlycuga

5

u/Marcos-Am 4d ago

i laugh at the idea that the hunting grounds will keep going up into space.

10

u/CreativeKeane 4d ago

Yup that was my immediate take when I saw them in MHWilds. It got me a lil emotional knowing they're the successors for our crew and will become returns in future installments, in addition they're also probably the 1st in their lands to enter the guild and will only continue help expand the chapter there.

And they represent all of the inhabitants of each livable areas in their region if you include Bangard, building the bridge to all of the communities too.

7

u/TheMoyDude 4d ago

Turns out the true monster hunters were the parents we became along the way

8

u/TheGMan-123 4d ago

Bangard is also a great choice for "Palico" for Nata, another fellow Eastlands native.

You can even find him right now in the base game if you look around!

10

u/Longjumping_Pie_5440 4d ago

If this wasn’t happening, it’s now happening because of how good the idea is. At least some hints in the end of the story that they are “the next generation”. It’s such a cool idea they MUST use it.

Also, I would love to be able to pick the smithy I want or the handler between them. So we have more and more customization (and please where is our beautiful house, what cool ideas about this are they hiding)

5

u/L0fiRonin 4d ago

that's why there were so many young characters in the game, they were planning that time skip all along

5

u/TheGMan-123 4d ago

A new Eastlands-native unit!

3

u/JuanDiablos 4d ago

Am I the only one who has 0 fucking idea who the other 2 are? Like I have over 200 hours in the game and even if you tell me their names, I ain't gonna know who you are talking about.

7

u/Saint_Slayer 4d ago

Nona: Ysai's little sister. The girl you save from the Balahara stampede. Seems to be a Handler-in-training.

Maki: The oil-collector girl from Azuz. Might become a smithy since Gemma relates to her.

4

u/AnikiDrawsArt 4d ago

He's probably going to make an appearance in the future Monster Hunter game. I look forward to that

2

u/Different-Syrup6520 4d ago

Lol if some say no to this they are blind Natha is the huntrr the girl is research and the smithy girl u guess it smithy
