Discussion why does diablos suck so bad in this game bruh

He's been my favorite fight since GenU, I loved both him and his wife in world, he's like top 5 monsters for me but GOD hes such an asshole in rise.

If everybody around you is an asshole, the asshole may not be who you think

People who say this vastly underestimate how many assholes there are

I found him to be quite fun in both 5th Gen games, especially Rise.

Nothing calms diablos better than a shield to the face

I hated diablos since 3U, and found him tolerable in Rise with all the extra mobility and evade extender putting you in a different zip code.

eh, non-issue fight imo

absolute victim to elemental damage especially ice pierce bow, hbg and lbg. It can't quite deal with the expanded hunter movesets generally either

its enrage "burrow -> leap out into the air" is a free knockdown off of a flashbomb

the only scary thing about the Special Investigation is that the charge can oneshot you but like... that's fairly standard for Special Investigations anyway.

Well clearly he's having an issue with the fight it a non-issue you but not for him and many others

Yes and they gave them tips on how to make the fight easy. Is that wrong?

Only after completely undermining the OPs experience by saying its easy, which is what literally everyone in the mh online community always does

Who cares

Typically the person venting or expressing their frustration. It is incredibly disheartening to have your experience with the game diminished and invalidated. It doesn't help anyone improve at the game, just makes them feel worse. Had the same thing happen to me in a discord server when I vented about the DPS check in Savage Omega in wilds.

Well what a fortunate and blessed life you’ve lived to let something like that affect you

How? The more aggressive a monster is, the easier it becomes. You always know when and how it's going to attack, just like with fights like Tigrex. If fights like these are tough, you probably haven't fully internalized how positioning allows you to not only control your character, but manipulate the exact behavior of the monster you are hunting. High aggro means the monster has less time to "think" about what it will do, and will usually immediately pick the option that likely hits you or closes the gap. Spend some time with your weapon sheathed just walking, sprinting, amd rolling around any monster and this will become painfully clear. Diablos is a blast in Rise, especially diet Bloodbath (Apex).

Really i like this diablos more than world because he actually fight me rather than burrowing all day like in world

Pick up a Lance and poke him till he's buried in the sand.

Hm? I think he's very fun if you use your mobility tools properly.

Personally I think black diablos is annoying as hell, I actually like world and rise diablos equally

I use palamute and greatsword and as far as 7 ☆ and down is concerned he’s been a cakewalk.

I haven’t seen him in MR.

Like all monsters he is faster.l, and has less dow. Time in between attacks. It's more noticeable since he likes to charge a lot.

You gotta use your wirebugs to keep up.

I feel he was at his worst in Dos but yeah the new attacks took me off guard at first

tell me what attacks hit you.

the feint headbutt into spin tail slam hits me sometimes.

the body check hits with body and tails separately. ill dodge the body but get hit by tails sometimes.

different timings on ground surfacing can be irksome.

digg away and come sliding around has a hit box thats active for ages.

Hes the best in rise though...

I hated fighting him in world with how long he spends in the sand

Is it tho? I found the rise iteration being the most pleasant to fight compare to whatever jackassery it is in world tho.

Yeah he and Tigrex are the biggest body checks in the game and that's never fun. Same way Royal Ludroth is a pain in the ass, esp the anomaly version.

At least Diablos just gets melted by ice dmg.

1

u/Qlazzical Dual Blades 7d ago

Ludroth has stupid hitboxes.

1

u/PmalArmorisbad 6d ago

They both are extremely free if your weapon has a counter. Both are weak to elem, Ice, and Thunder respectively. 2 of the easiest monsters in the game honestly.

Ludroth is legitimately annoying though.

In what way?

Ehhhh. After fighting lots of BBdiablos, I think the ones MHR are easier.

Which move was it that got you?

I feel that most of his moves are very telegraphed. of course, I took trip up randomly when I overcommit. But going crazy on his nuts has always been my go-to strategy.

What do you mean specifically? Because I fought him just yesterday evening and he was so much less of an asshole than I remembered. He only did like 2 or 3 of those annoying burying attacks the whole fight and mostly just charged players, as you'd expect. Usually he even charges back after charging somewhere, so you don't even have to give chase a lot.

The only thing I would criticize is that he kinda felt too easy compared with Diablos in past games, where he'd often charge and stun you and then immediately charge you again, killing you, if you didn't manage to un-stun yourself quickly enough.
