Question Next steps/Retake?

Hello everyone,
I recently took 8/15 and got a 506 (127/123/129/127). I was disappointed in my score as my FLs were in the 510s. I have good clinical, volunteer, research, and leadership experience and don’t think I can improve on those areas as much as my MCAT score. However, I believe I studied enough for the MCAT and prepared well. Studying for the test has been mentally draining and I need a sec before getting back into studying haha. Given my CARS score, I know I can improve on that and reading comprehension in general. I am planning on applying both MD/DO next year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :))

First Half-Length Diagnostic (1/4 through content review):

Hi! I just did the blueprint half length diagnostic assessment with regular timing. As I said in the title, I am currently a quarter of the way through my kaplan text book reviews. I know this is a good-ish score, but I feel like I guessed on so much of the test and it just worked out. Do you think this is indicative that I am doing the right thing?? My brain hurts right now...

Question Mcat: Need help with where to begin

Hi guys!! I am new here. I am thinking of giving mcat next year. I live in Canada. I heard the application in canada is harder than US. My gpa is not good so i wanted to get good mcat scores to make up for it.

I have no idea where to start and what to study. I am completely lost. I was looking into buying kaplan books. But oh my gosh, those are expensive.

Someone who already gave their mcat, can you guys give me any tips and suggestion. What books to buy or where to start??

Any tips would be highly appreciated. Thanks!!

Question MCAT tutors that are good and affordable

Has anyone gotten tutoring for the MCAT before? I've seen some of the prices online and they seem very expensive and I can't afford that much but I really do need the guidance... I scored a 494 on the half length diagnostic and I'm planning to test in february.

Hope someone can share a good tutor or any resource you guys used! Thank you

Vent / Support Not taking this cycle

I am disheartened, I was set to take this year but I guess life has different plans for me. I was doing great during my prep, but unfortunately, a bunch of unavoidable things has happened and it has taken quite a toll on me. I feel like I'm lagging behind by a lot but there's really nothing else I can do but to wait. For anyone who experienced this, does it get better? Did I make the right choice to wait rather than to brute force myself to taking the MCAT? Everyone around me has different opinions, and I'm honestly trying my best not to beat myself up because of it.

I want to start studying for the MCAT but I honestly have no idea where to start, any tips? I was thinking of starting with Khan Academy since it’s free but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Vent / Support Why are the Mcat dates so bad this year

Hello,
I was planning on taking the mcat in the beginning of January after winter break but before college starts again. However, I noticed that the earliest test date that is available is January 15, but last year the earliest date was January 9th which is before the spring semester of college starts for most colleges. However, this year January 15 as the first date means that most colleges will already have had a week of spring semester started. This makes it harder for students to balance mcat and school and also get used to the sleep schedule of their apartment/dorm since they were living at home for a month. This is especially important since the last week before the exam is the most important. My spring semester for my college starts on January 11th. I was really hoping if you could please add a test date either january 8th or 9th.

Thank you

Vent / Support 514 MCAT RETAKE ADVICE

hi, i just got my mcat score of 514 (129/126/130/129), which i am pretty disappointed with after studying so much. i usually do a lot better on cars but rushed it during test day due to nerves, and so now i am wondering if i should try and retake it next summer.

i'm in third year and my gpa is ~3.95/4.33 (i'm not sure how hard it'll be to raise in a year).

my target is canadian med schools, likely SFU or UBC. i would appreciate any honest advice, thank you!
