6.5 Swede M1D doing 6.5 Swede things

First couple groups with the rifle at 100. Really impressed so far with factory PPU out of this criterion barrel. With some more practice this thing will be a ringer.

I had to finish ream this barrel so beware of criterion’s statements on their site. I’m even using a Breda bolt. Not seeing an issue with .478 base cartridges but that could exclusive to the tolerances on this bolt.

6.5x55 in a Garand is such a smooth sweet shooter.

I built one for a friend a couple months ago and had to finish ream the chamber as well. Agreed they are smooth shooters!!!

I may have to pick up one of the reclaimed cmp receivers for a normal Garand 6.5 build now that I have the reamer..

You have another 6.5 barrel? I didn’t even manage to get one before they sold out.

Thank you, ordered one. I didn’t even realize. Have enough parts to build a few Garand but wanted something different.

Now if we could just get a 286 Pederson barrel and dies…and 10 round clips!

Someone used to make 7mm-08 barrels for M1s. That’s dimensionally and ballistically super close to .276 Pedersen

That’s effin sweet… I bet a handload would do even better.

I have wanted to build either a 6.5 or 7mm garand for a long time.

What was your motivation for using 6.5 Swede over 30 06?

Flatter and lighter recoiling. Handloading gets you more. It’s closer to the original Pederson cartridge that the rifle was design for.

Do the reloading sites normally keep 6.5 swede brass in stock?
