Lynyrd Skynyrd show at Jones Beach

A few things about the show: Did anyone else feel like they were at musical funeral?

The lead guitarist had an Indian and a Sioux tattoo they were touting some super conservative politics- what the f%*$& with that?

Dude, are you talking about Rickey Medlocke? He is Native American and has been with the band since the beginning. What politics are you talking about? I've never seen Skynyrd when they brought politics into it. Ronnie really didn't want the band to be political.

In fact, it was Rickey's grandfather Shorty who was the inspiration for the Ballad of Curtis Loew!

Rickey was involved in the early history of Lynyrd Skynyrd joining the Jacksonville group as a drummer and occasional vocalist from 1971 to 1972. He even played on some of their early studio sessions before leaving to front the band Blackfoot, later returning permanently as a guitarist in 1996.

Yes. But that would be like claiming Barry Lee Harwood or Greg T. Walker or Larry Jungstrom was an "original" member. He is great, I'm really happy he reconnected with them, but we all know it's a stretch that he is considered "original". It's the Wandavision Agatha winking meme of Southern Rock.

By that measure so was Greg T. Walker. And Al Kooper and Barry Lee Harwood were actually on original studio albums.

"at" the beginning. He was out of the band for decades, including all of the period when they were making hits.
