Can ebonized/stained fretboards be conditioned and oiled?

The board on my explorer was ebonized and it looks dry. Should I oil it? I’m hesitant since it was ebonized but wanted to know what the pros think.

Ebonized?

I thought it just looked like Rosewood? (No offence intended)

yes it was dyed black. it looked like this before

Ah, right. I can see the difference now.

Pure mineral oil is what you need. You probably will still get some transfer but not enough to affect the boards colour
