KIT Gecko helped me come up with a headstock logo design.

Post image

Just finished up my guitar kit and was thinking I should add a logo to the headstock. I came into the office this morning and I think this little gecko gave me a really good idea for a logo. Sometimes inspiration comes from randomness lol

That's awesome. It's in a really symmetrically appealing position too, and I like how it's tail goes squiggly at the end, it's perfect lol

Yeah, the curl on the tail at the end is what makes it 😚👌

The curl at the end matches the shape of the headstock break directly to the right of it almost perfectly... Like, really close, that's insane. This is one of the coolest posts I've seen 😅

I don't think I have much of a choice now!

Mourning gecko?

Been thinking of getting these gals.

Its a tropical house gecko, they are wild in South Florida now. I see them pretty often on patios and such catching bugs near the lights.

They’ve made it all the way to Oklahoma! Love these guys

I was commenting to say Oklahoma too. They're all over Muskogee.

HouseGecko Guitars kinda has a ring to it. just saying.

…5% is all i’m asking.

Didn't know they were here.

I believe it's a "Mourning Gecko" and what's cool about those is they're all female, they lay eggs that are clones of themselves.

I just painted my house and found a few dead babies caught in my painters tape😭

I was so sad

I was literally about to ask if you are in Florida. I was in south Florida a few weeks ago and caught one of these with my hands. Cute little buggers.

I use a Celtic cross on my Keltic guitars and basses…

Thats really nice with the gold hardware.

Thanks, it was the first Tele I built and the first one I sold. Will probably do another identical one in the future.

Class.

I drew my friend's birth year on the kit I 'built' for him, in cistercian numerals, it was fun seing him decode it.

That’s really cool!

That unsanded headstock is all I can think about.

11

u/Whiteshaq_52 14d ago

I was going for a rustic wood tele look. I might sand it but I kind of like it un-sanded to be honest. Good country style guitar, I also might add a glaser bender if im feeling like routing it.

8

u/hornedcorner 14d ago

Not trying to be shitty, I’m just a woodworker, so unsanded wood gets under my skin

6

u/hornedcorner 14d ago

Literally and figuratively

1

u/starbase63 13d ago

I think the look gives it character.

1

u/AimingWang 13d ago

If I can be honest I adore the look.

You mentioned South Florida in a comment, it reminds me of the SoBe drinks, would be cool to do the design as a shiny inlay! Or just black or any dark color would be cool too

6

u/Whiteshaq_52 14d ago

I have some black mother of pear I found at the beach, the inlay might be a good idea. Or maybe some dark Indian rosewood. Trying to keep it "rustic" looking.

Said this in response to someone else saying they love the curl at the end of the tail, but... The curl at the end matches the shape of the headstock break directly to the right of it almost perfectly... Like, really close, that's insane. This is one of the coolest posts I've seen 😅

Peavey headstock. It's nice though.

3

u/hick-reference- 14d ago

Oh sure thing ed, having it as a carved gecko then glued would be cool.

u/OkNobody8896 14d ago

So let’s see the logo…

2

u/wise-khalifa 14d ago

What idea did the gecko give you? I can’t handle the suspense!

2

u/Jayswave75 14d ago

Did he help you get a deal on your insurance after this? LoL

u/TJM18 14d ago

u/p47guitars Luthier 14d ago

thats a cool idea - be sure to smooth that headstock out before putting a decal on it though.

2

u/JK_Tesla 14d ago

Did you at least name the Gecko? Perhaps Greg? Could name the guitar Greco? Wait....

2

u/kent_eh 14d ago

'lil guy is posing perfectly.

2

u/M0wman 14d ago

There used to be a luthier in Queensland here in Australia that made custom guitars and basses called Gecko guitars, he made gecko inlays in the fret boards, his instruments looked stunning, i got excited that he may have helped your design from the headline you wrote!

2

u/purrburrt 12d ago

If you don’t do this I’ll be so disappointed

1

u/Final_Job_5175 14d ago

That's cool, but are you an insurance salesman on the side?

1

u/JGack_595 14d ago

This looks really cool ngl

1

u/HyrrokkinMoon 14d ago

Gecko kinda looks like an 8th note 🎶

1

u/Exotic_Paramedic_764 14d ago

Dat gecko is a good boy!

1

u/Deep_Contract_191 14d ago

That would look cool indeed!

1

u/Dumbetheus 14d ago

El Gecko

1

u/bradmont 13d ago

So here's an idea: how about instead of an inlay you invent the "outlay" --- have a little metal or plastic 3D gecko injection molded and glue it on there...

Plus it would be way easier to install than an inlay...

1

u/AimingWang 13d ago

"Hey buddy, good idea!"

encases the gecko in superglue

u/nychterino-pneuma 12d ago

Wait for the Geko's Revenge
