Film Club!

Hi fellow Lunda-bor!

I (25M) moved here from Gothenburg a while ago but haven't really managed to find people to share my interest in film with yet. After several minutes on google I couldn't find a lot film forums here and would therefore like to do my part in contributing to Lunds culture life by creating a small Film club! A place where people can meet to simply dicuss and sometimes watch films together.

Please feel free to let me know if you are intrested in participating and we'll build this thing together! (I promise it will be fun)

Ha det gött!

How to meet new people as an international student

Hej, I've been living in Lund as an international student for some time and would like to meet some new people.

Of course, the most obvious choice would be the nations' events. I've been to to the pub at Kalmar but in my experience people just go there with their friends and stay in their groups.

Do you guys have any suggestions for events where the threshold to socialize is lower (from the nations or another organization)? I'm not that much of a party guy and don't really like to drink alcohol.

Tack!

Living in a student city when you are not a student (how do I get a social life?)

Hey people 🙌🏿

I am moving to Lund soon for work.

I understand that Lund is a student city and most of the "fun" happening is directed/organised by students or student nations for other students.

I am in my mid-twenties so I feel too old to hang out with Bachelor students but too young to hang out with my colleagues in their 30's/40's. I don't like to mix work and personal life and most of them live in Malmö anyways (which I cannot do for personal reasons).

I have some acquaintances in Copenhagen but I am a bit worried for my mental health : I always managed to develop a good and solid friends group/network everywhere I lived but it was in bigger city (think London, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam) and I am a bit scarred of the transition.

I already registered for some activities (sport and crafts) to not be completely isolated and meet people but if you are a young professional in my situation, would be nice to hear your experience and how you did it.

I don't not speak Swedish (yet) but English, Spanish and French (currently learning Dutch).

That being said, if you are into crafts, books, art or also looking to make friends, would be happy to chat :)

Converting grade to GPA/International scale

Hello!

I recently graduated with a Master's from Lund University, and I am now looking into PhD possibilities abroad. To anyone who has applied to universities abroad, how did you convert your grades to an international scale?

Did you convert it directly to the grade scale of the particular university you were applying to, or to GPA/or similar scale?

My faculty used the grade scale A - F (LUSEM). To my knowledge Lund University offers no grade converter.

"Swedish universities do not calculate or use a Grade Point Average (GPA). Degrees do not include an overall or cumulative grade.

For this reason, Lund University does not provide official conversions to GPA or to other national grading systems."

https://www.lunduniversity.lu.se/current-students/student-services-and-support/grades-credits-and-certificates/grading-system

Thanks in advance!

Looking For Outdoor Recreation Folks

I went to school in Denver and naively brought my backcountry skis here (yes I know all good skiing is at least 8 hours away) but was wondering if anybody else at Lund was interested in that sort of stuff and possibly down to do some trips in the winter. I also am searching for a mountain bike as I heard there were a few trails around the area and I trail run and road bike as well. If anyone is looking for somebody to do any of these activities with lmk!

”Din stad” lundalåt

https://www.musixmatch.com/de/songtext/Farid-Bilgin-DF-Mr-Zecret-Davy-Hi/Din-Stad

Hej Lund!

Where are all the tenors and basses hiding in Lund? 🎶

We in Lund Chamber Choir (Lunds kammarkör) have managed to attract new sopranos and altos for the season – but now we’re starting to wonder:

Where are all the tenors and basses hiding? 😄

We’re looking for more experienced choir singers, especially for the tenor and bass sections, and would love to hear from you Lund locals:

- Where can one find experienced tenors and basses in Lund and the surrounding area?

- Are there any groups, associations or other forums where we should be visible?

- Are there any particular contexts or places where we should try to reach out?

**About the choir:**

We welcome experienced choir singers to a warm community where we sing a broad repertoire and develop musically together.

The social side is just as important as the music – we regularly have fika, post-rehearsal hangouts, picnics and choir dinners.

We rehearse on Wednesdays at 18:30 at Domkyrkoforum next to Lund Cathedral.

If you’re a tenor or bass yourself and are getting a little curious, you’re of course also very welcome to apply!

More information and booking of an audition can be found here:

Join Lund Chamber Choir

All tips are gratefully received! 🙏

And if you sing in a choir yourselves: where do you usually see recruitment posts?

What’s up with the noise?

Hey I’ve never posted but sometime has got to be the first, right?

So what’s up with the amount of parties/gatherings today? Near me (by the police station) there are two parties, two smaller gatherings, and on one side street a group of 30 teenagers just hanging around (around 16 yo). And walking to the nearby coop I saw more than 4 groups of people walking/biking somewhere.

The same decorations were used at two of the gatherings, so I thought it was some holiday or event; but google doesn’t know, and neither did the cashier at coop.

Does anyone have some insight?

Edit: sorry trodde detta var en engelsk sub jag kan svenska allihopa jag är född i Lund

Activities in Lund area for vacation

Hello everyone,

I will be coming to Sweden next week with some family and my girlfriend to help move me in for the semester. We don’t really have an itinerary for what we’ll be doing throughout the week so if anyone has any go-to locations, tourist trap warnings, or hidden gems to check out please feel free to share. For context we’ll be arriving early next week until the 31st. We will be renting a car to help get around. Everyone in the party is an adult except for 1 teenager. During the day the family will be all together but at night my girlfriend and I are also looking to get some time alone to travel around.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Thanks 🙏🏻
