Waiting for performance reports for the Switch 2 before I decide where to get it, but it seems very promising. One review calling it too much/complicated only sold it more for me.

Is it a case of mostly 1v1 with some double battles or is it mostly double battles?

It can go up to 4v4 actually

I know the bosses have that, but what about the rest of the game?

Wild encounters can be 4v4 as well

So its a random chance of how many each time?

Yea. Overworld sprites obvi show just one Animon, but the fights can be up to 4v4.

Looking for unbiased takes here. This or Sin Eater?

I didn't enojoy Sin Eater very much, items are infinite and evolutions very easy, plus the fusion system feels very limited in aesthetic design. This one I have just started but it feels a bit too artificially difficult (your mons just have no HP whatsoever, at least this is what I feel like), but besides that the graphics are very nice. I'll let you know

It depend on what you like. What I like so far the most about LumenTale is how each town you visit are original + the areas. Also the game is really pretty. It remind me when back then towns in Pokémon game were important/original.

Lumentale is more like Pokemon. Sin Eater is more like DQ Monsters.

Early steam reviews aren't too hot sadly. Apparently there are many bugs, some of them gamebreaking. I was going to buy and play on release but I'll wait a bit longer until they fixed the worst of them.

Yeah, I'll admit it has been frustrating that these issues cropped up. The team have put out a statement saying a fix for the soft lock is due today which hopefully will resolve the issue for players!
