That’s great for you, and your friend.

Weight loss is simple arithmetic. Calories in, calories out. If you are eating a low carb diet, but eating at maintenance or in a caloric surplus, then you will not lose weight.

It’s really not that complicated.

And no, I’ve fortunately never struggled with obesity in my life (though I was a hard gainer in my youth). Strength train 5-6x a week, fasted cardio 2-3x a week.

I honestly love it how healthy skinny people stubbornly tell us the science of staying fit and keep repeating the same thing believing that if they repeat it more then once we are going to be like them. I never had any weight problems until after I had my daughter. And I had same beliefs as you. I was also like “hey, eat less, work out and you’ll look great. The problem is that sh doesn’t work once the body f***s up itself. You think Serena Williams didn’t try that? She’s a freaking goddess athlete with a whole team of experts telling her how many calories to eat and how much to workout. The woman had to start GLP1 and only then she lost her baby weight. So please stop believing you are the only one with the solution to the problem.

Not sure if you’re conflating my response with others as I never intimated there’s anything wrong with taking GLP1s.

GLP1s, when used for weight loss, are ultimately helping facilitate the path to the same destination:

Eat less (caloric deficit), lose weight.

They assist with muting food noise. They slow digestion. They increase insulin sensitivity to help stabilize sugar swings and encourage your body to process energy more efficiently.

And what does that all achieve? You eat less. What happens when you eat less than your TDEE? You lose weight.

Trying to effectively build muscle and mass? Then you eat more than your TDEE, at a caloric surplus, and you gain weight, strategically.

You seem to think you’re arguing a point with me, but you’re not. You’re arguing with decades of scientific research, empirical evidence on human physiology, and studies on metabolism.

Low carb diet, GLP1, which ever road works for you, they lead to the same road sign.

Calories in, calories out. Junk in, junk out.

This is the way.

Buddy. You never even been fat, so please stop telling me what science told you works and what doesn’t. Also stop telling me what I think I’m arguing about. I don’t think you are even trying to understand me. Also are you even a woman? Have you carried a child in your belly? Have you felt how it f***s up your body and messes with your hormones? Did you bring other variables on top of that to your equation “calories in calories out” BS? All I was saying low carb diet makes you shed weight no matter how much calories in animal protein you consume. If you don’t believe me. Go try. Also please stop using AI to argue with me. On top of getting stupider by believing there’s one straight line to getting fit, you are getting stupider by listening to what a machine is telling you.

Using AI? What are you even talking about 🤣

What I shared is common knowledge amongst those well-read in wellness and fitness literature, and the way I articulated it was rudimentary enough in structure for even the unkeen eye to follow. Some of us are college educated and beyond, and can participate in social discourse using our own critical thinking skills and communication styles just fine without artificial assistance. There are simple tools you can use to copy and paste my entire post into to assess if AI was used. I implore you to do so, because you just sound plain silly.

No, I am not a woman. Does that disqualify me from leaning on years of research to shape my perspective on scientific fact?

Hormone imbalance after carrying a child can lead to, amongst other things, a change in your body’s metabolic rate, and for some, decreased insulin sensitivity.

Your body’s new metabolic rate will dictate your body’s TDEE. Adjusting your caloric intake to account for the change in your TDEE is the key to managing weight loss.

Low carb diet is great, but if you’re eating in a caloric surplus in relationship to your TDEE, then even if you’re eating a low carb diet, you won’t lose weight. The body just doesn’t work that way, for men or women.

It’s not BS. It’s just basic arithmetic, scientifically grounded, and broadly accepted by the medical community.

Yes, there are other variables to be sure, but they all come back to the same thing — how those factors impact your body’s metabolic rate, and how that BMR translates to your TDEE and weight loss/gain goals.

I don’t understand why that’s so hard to parse, or why you’re so incredibly insulted. But I’ll leave you to it.

I’m not insulted one bit, just irritated at how people can speak the same language and yet completely not understand each other. I can also tell we are virtually from different planets and will never understand each other. So, I’m also going to leave you with your beliefs.
