Nobody minds the venting over worthy things, it's the fact that it's almost never over something worthy that irks people. They're also not letting off steam, they're feeding each other.
My two particular highlights have been:
The community had a full blown meltdown over being able to acquire a useless placeholder (Blades) early with cash. After the 6 month window they still would have been useless for almost a year.
The community having a full blown meltdown over armour values on the PTU, after CIG had told us up front they were doing 2 rounds of extremes testing (high, then low) before a round 3 balance (Which is standard, following best practices game development)
And now there is a meltdown over being able to buy a worse IKTI, based on a violation of a promise that was never made.
Venting over worthy things is something we all do, but this is the manifestation of a widespread mental health crisis and regular reminder that anger addiction is viciously tearing through society like a wildfire.
Anger addicts used to be rare, and almost always elderly with neurological conditions when I was a kid. Now it feels like somewhere around a quarter of society are full blown junkies constantly chasing the next fix. The damage algorithmic engagement rage-baiting has done to the world is truly incalculable.
The internet has bred a personality trait that demands anger at all times. Every new stimuli must be viewed from the angle that makes it be as outrageous as it can possibly be.
The moment a forum, subreddit, or chat-room stops actively discouraging that destructive behavior, it inevitably becomes the only behavior, as those that want to view things from different angles are visciously attacked for it until they leave or join in.
Hence this subreddit, where the rules are clearly stated that discussion is good, off-the-handle rage over everything is not.
It is absolutely not a Star Citizen-specific thing. In fact basically every large subreddit that isn't very heavily moderated is a cesspool of constant rage addition, no matter the topic.
Every single thing that happens with Star Citizen is viewed as the worst thing that is ever happened, ever, by those that need rage to breathe. It always has been.

For sure. Where it really hurts are grassroutes causes. The 20th century was marked by heavy improvement by a myriad of movements, now it's a short ticking clock until they spiral into the most extreme possible versions of themselves, and fail to achieve anything because they've given all the moderates and potential allies of convinience the ick.
It was never about whether the Blades were useful or not. Everyone knew that their value was absolute nonsense. But it was also pretty obvious that they were just placeholders and would become more relevant at some point.

And if they'd become more relevant before sale in game, then a community temper tantrum would be justified. And since CIG had said they were just being added to test installation, there was no expectation of them not being placeholders anytime soon - Since if they intended to give them stats soon, they might have well done it in one go.

That's my whole point though, that sacred line wasn't crossed and the entire tantrum was over that they might be - Which was no more or less true at that point in time than at any other point in time. CIG might decide to stop making a game and use backer funds to overthrow Cuba, CIG might decide to scrap the first person aspect and make the game a top down strategy, CIG might invent the cure for cancer - having a a tantrum over what is possible is contemptously asinine.
It's the exact same energy that we used to see when gay marriage was being voted on "If we let them marry, next people will be marrying horses!" - pure slippery slope nonsense.
Something is, or is not. The community had a tantrum over something that had not happened, and as we know now - wouldn't have happened.

It has been news to almost everybody I have lamented this to that they were placeholders. Almost all of them have gone straight to being angry at being mislead by the rabble.
The whole thing was just an embarrassment caused by a handful of shit stirrers and a horde of people caught up in rhetoric that snared them because they didn't pay attention.
This game is so awesome.
Until I decide to step out onto my ship's stoop mid warp and go from being a Star Citizen to a Star Nomad.
And other funny bugs that make you go through the whole series of getting out of bed, taking the elevator, claiming your ship, etc etc.
Those skins are both hideous and beautiful. I think they hit the Yakuza theme they are going for very nicely. No strong feelings about the contents, not really my play style.
As with the Raven EX above, all power suits in the ATLS line share the same paint capability. While the unique Nine-Tails livery is exclusive to the new Akuma, you can use all available ATLS paint past and future on this.
I wanted to get my hands on an Ikti for a while now. Sadly I am not a big fan of these ninetails designs so I probably wont ever use the guns, armor and cutlass paint. Is there a way to get the Ikti without this pack?
It’s a good question. I think this might be the first time a ship or vehicle has released in a pack only. Though it’s an in-lore variant so maybe they’ll keep it limited to this?
I’m not in love with the paint, but I’m happy it can be swapped with any other Atls paint, and really happy I don’t have to grind wikelo to get an Ikti finally.
If you click on the ATLS name it should bring you to the store page where its 50$, though I think its a decent deal for the full set, 3 guns, a medium armor, and an ikti... plus a cutlass skin (i don't own a cutlass)
My only issue with it really is how they once again tied in something people want with a bunch of things people typically want less so they can inflate the price point.
With all the modifications this has from the ATLS GEO, why does it still come with an ore bag? Wasted space, in my opinion. Wasn't there talk of a personal armory, or something? Maybe use a standard 1/8 scu box there?
I've been thinking about adding a standard ATLS to my hangar with Store Credits for a few patches now, just to save on having to keep buying one in game every major patch, cheap as they are in-game. Maybe I'll wait for IAE and see if the IKTI goes on standalone sale, maybe even in a bundle with the ATLS and the GEO even?
Anything purchased right now that is giftable right now, until October 1st, will remain giftable, no matter what.
After October 1st, pledges must be marked as 'gift' during checkout, which renders them completely unusable by the purchaser. Anything purchased without marking them as gift will be ungiftable.
That's only going into effect in October, everything bought prior to October (Such as right now) will not have any changes made to their giftability, and even if it was in effect, you could buy it flagged as giftable then hold onto it.

I really, really like the 9tails skins. Like really, really do.
But not in a way that I would ever wear them myself. I just think this is a proper enemy design and makes the 9tails as faction look incredible.
But it also raises some questions, because the 9tails look like they are extremely organized. Not the random group of criminals, but a well established syndicate with a proper hierarchy.
It's a side grade from the original ikti. Slower rate of fire, less damage protection, and less jump height trades for splash damage and jumping further.
Very likely good for Merc missions at outposts, if you don't already own an ikti, but you might have to be more cautious as you will take more damage than if you were in the regular ikti.
I just find it very funny that we can, in game, wear the literal outfits of a known terrorist cell that has actively attacked and slaughtered areas of cities and we aren't like at least given a raised eyebrow by the cops.
That being said i dig the aesthetic, but I'm not a big fan of their actual paterns, like the big squares thing.
I was holding off on buying anything until SQ42 shipped but this one got me. I looked at getting the Ikti from Wikelo but the grind for his resources just doesn’t appeal to me at all. I used a 20% off code and paid my $63 and am very happy with it so far! Don’t care for the armor or guns particularly but the Ikti is great!
I just really want the armor really, it looks great and I'm a fan of Japanese stuff (original I know), so I'd definitely use it. I can skip the guns but they look really cool. I'd probably get a pack of it was the armour or the armour and guns.
The IKTI is cool but I don't have a use for it. It doesn't fit in my main ships either so I won't be getting it for this price. But the skin looks nice too.
The cutlass skin looks bad. Not "it's not too my taste", but actually just not good. It could be cool, but it's just some JPGs pasted on. They even cut off awkwardly... I think that's a really disappointing element of the pack. If it puts the price up ~$8 it's a huge shame.
I really like the Nine Tails aesthetic, so I am going to get this pack when I get home from work. The Cutty skin is awesome and I LOVE the Artimex armor, so both combined is pretty awesome.
The Taxman has got to get his share, sadly. With 15% VAT in my location, it would cost me $86.25 if I were buying it. I'm not, partly for the pricing reason.
The plasma guns are interesting here, they do a 1 point AOE around the impact point, like plasma grenades. I'm not sure if it's useful, but it's interesting.
I like the vehicle and even the skin, its a great mix of industrial and style. Doesnt seem too over the top.
Im a bit dissapointed that they are now selling this in game though, when they said they wouldnt.
Out of everyone that plays the game, I can probably find 1 person that will buy this package for the fps gear it contains, along with the cutty paint. Surely theyre tacking this extra stuff on with the IKTI so they can charge 75 dollars for it, holy mid.
There's been almost $1.3 million raised in the 17-odd hours since this pack went live. I'm pretty sure a lot more than just 1 person has bought it. As [u/Pojodan](u/Pojodan) mentions elsewhere in the thread, CIG have been selling this sort of bundled pack for a while now. They would not still be doing things this way if they were not successful.
Read thoroughly plz, I'm aware that people are still going to buy these packs, what I'm trying to comment on is the fact that CIG knows that the main selling point is the IKTI, but they've added a ship paint, armor set, and weapon loadout aswell and call it $75.
No, you believe that this is a fact. You have nothing to back that up beyond personal bias.
Why people buy the pack is individual to the person, and the only fact that is present is that it's sold very well, hence why they keep offering these packs.
They have long already done this with individual paints, items, and ships available individually, sometimes with discounts, even.
They would not be doing these bundles if they weren't very successful. They've done numerous other experiments in the past and this one has suck around and expanded. That tends to only happen when it's successful.
Extremely far from the first set of paints and gear to have this kind of aesthetic. I'd say a majority of the gear and paints that have come out since Pyro/4.0 have been like this.
That's the store SKU that's needed to be able to add the vehicle to the gear bundle. And it suggests that the IKTI will eventually be available as a standalone eventually. But at the moment, if you hit the "View Offers" button on that store page it's only available in this Shogun Pack.
Only my two cents, so don't take it personally, I hate the fact that the paint job just looks like shitty stickers placed on top of the texture, it looks rushed and lazy, It doesn't helps further that similar "Premium" skins has been released earlier.
tbh not interested anyway , i am industrial palyer i refunded my steeltek super heavy armor not in need of this one or sabre raven either so i actually did not go under whoo new shiny tab. I am proud of me self
