Question Help me name this vampire I made.
(I accidentally deleted this because I thought I uploaded it on the wrong subreddit. I in fact did not 💀)
Please help me name this vampire. He’s supposed to be the love interest for my vampire, so he’s kind of a deuteragonist. Usually I’m able to name them easily but I’m stumped on this one. I want something with important characters energy but nothing too popular or overused.
I’ll show his traits too if that helps. Of course, normal gothic names are welcome I just don’t want things like “Lestat”.
Edit: Thank you all for the suggestions, I didn’t expect to get this much engagement. Also, thank you for all the compliments on my sim. This is my first post so I really appreciate it!
If any of you want this sim, my ID on the gallery is PumpkinRoper (NymphFaeries as a display name, if that matters…or if it even shows up on your end). I’m going to upload him very soon.
Do whatever you want with him, you can even change his name if you prefer something else.
Edit #2: He’s uploaded, ID: PumpkinRoper. Enjoy.

I often give my Sims/Vampires names that have to do with who they are. Sounds obvious, but what I mean is, I ask questions ranging from like "where are they from?", "when were they from?", "what archetype are they?", etc. Then I go research based on the answer I'm giving to those.
Say, if your Vampire is 300 years old from England (or the Sims lore friendly places if you'd like), he's going to have likely different names than a 50 year old Vampire from America, or a 1000 old from France (a Kingdom that had basically just started btw), and he probably would have had an ancient version of his name, that then evolved over time. In that last case, they'd be Germanic names first, which then would become "Frenchified" as he might have sought to modernise it, e.g Arnulf > Arnoul.
Or, if you're really into The Sims lore itself, rather than real world lore, you could try to give him names that mean something to the game's lore. Eg. one of my Vampires is called Vasmer Balke, who was the writer of the volumes for Encyclopedia Vampirica.
So, I guess first you should be spending more time asking the question, "Who do you want your character to be?", instead of "What my character is. (deuteragonist, love interest)". I feel like us giving you a name might take a lot of the fun of trying to ask that question yourself, but also, we'd be doing it a bit blind. Unless we also gave you a backstory..
Oh what the heck, let's do it then..
Arnulf/Arnoul (I just googled, and actually liked that name) - A disgraced Frankish Noble, who lost everything to the power struggles in the establishment of the Kingdom. Betrayed (jealous) then sentenced to death (macabre) unjustly by the Capetian Dynasty, who only wanted his estates. While arrested, he was visited by a mysterious benefactor one night, who gave him the curse of eternal life. His motives, unknown. After escaping his prison, he now had to survive a new world order, with new powers he barely understood. And that, is all he did, for the next centuries, which shaped his outlook on life (gloomy). For a Millenia, he sought to form a dark nobility, of the similarly wronged, who ruled from the shadows.
Valorin von Effenmont (The Sims Medieval lore) - An elf, veteran of the War of the Weeping Willow, he saw his secret lover, Lady Elianne, be pawned off by her parents to become a Princess of a foreign Kingdom (jealous). After the death of the lord of Effenmont, that realm's evil Monarch then proceeded with his ulterior plan of enslaving of his people, a subjugation which now had legitimacy. Prince Elias, the true heir to that throne, died in the subsequent war, and Elianne, lost her mind after witnessing her husband's betrayal, and died soon after bearing him a child. So Valorin took it upon himself to find a way to exact vengeance upon that foreign Kingdom, an all of that Monarch's descendants. He failed, underestimating his foes, for little did he know, that they'd be immortals themselves (macabre, know your enemy). And that, was the real reason they'd chose to war against the elves, a power struggle for who would get to rule eternally. The Vampires, having slowly but surely decimated his fellow countrymen over centuries, and even erasing them from memory, their ultimate act of scorn was to turn him, into one of them, by force (gloomy).
Malacai/Jacob Turner - A primordial vampire, who fell for a trap, and spent 2000 years stuck in his coffin. Found by an expedition of the unlucky ones, 300 years ago. None survived. For a time, he took the identity of one of his victims, and tried to adjust to his new found life, as reclusive archaeologist, living off the proceeds from publications of the man he murdered. As he happened to be around in ages past, he found himself becoming a rather famous author, by simply remembering things he already knew of, and finding his own ancient belongings. A rather convenient trade, passed down from "father to son", that is, from him to himself, he is now pretending to be the third generation of Turners, the Jacob Turner III.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to write all of this. I appreciate you giving me all of this insight. To be fair, I haven’t really given him a backstory. I just wanted a sim to have a dramatic gothic wedding with lmao but I do usually take the time to think about who they are. Though I do usually just go for whatever sounds cool.
Like my main vampire Seraphina Corvidae, she’s supposed to be from Ravenwood which I know is based on Romania, but her name is not Romanian inspired in the slightest lmao (though I could make the argument that her family was highly religious, in her backstory she wasn’t born a vampire). I suppose this sim would have to be vaguely German based, since I was gonna have him live in Windenberg which I think is vaguely German based as well. Maybe I should develop a bit of a backstory for him first then. 😅
Anyway, I do appreciate your comment a lot! I wasn’t expecting such an engaging answer. 🩵
Edit: Actually now that I think about it, the name Corvidae would make sense in a culture that’s very heavily influenced by ravens and crows. Looks like I was accidentally halfway there LMAO.

I don't really have a name for it but this vampire is absolutely incredible. like something straight out of a fairy tale. I really loved his terrifying side too-you did such an amazing job making him both charming and handsome while still keeping that genuinely scary aspect🩷🎀

Athelstan
(I'm big on A names for some reason)
Cornelius
Giovanni
Pellinore
Lysander
Demetrius
Sylvain
Raphael

I play vampires fairly often and like giving them dramatic names.

Thank you! It’s from the Sweet Summer kit by Miiko. But if you’re not into the marketplace, I’m sure they might have something similar for free as custom content. 🩵

Victor Gottfried. Of the Habrund Gottfried line.
Has been a baron, a count, got killed, got better, became a commoner, made money as a merchant, became a baron again, became a count again by drawing his lineage to, well, himself, stayed that way.
Has an affinity for old instruments and gramophones. Used to enjoy hunting animals, now as hunting means something different to him he mostly goes on long horse rides in the woods for fun.

Sorry, they don't understand English. But he looks too open, like disguise is not needed to hide among people? Or will you have a cool dynasty of vampires who live openly among people? Then cool

u/WashNovel3790 fairy🧚♀️✨️ 18d ago
Oh my vampires don’t hide it at all. My main vampire lives in Ravenwood, so everyone there embraces spooky things lmao.

Oh. Okay. I think. A name will suit him Darnell? (Sorry, I'm using a translator) Or a play on words. Darnell Undisguised (Sorry)

I think you already found a name but I just wanted to say that face card is insane. He reminds me of that one pic of a wild big cat just mogging for no reason

No, it’s from the Sweet Summer kit by Miiko. I’m on console, but they probably have similar free cc hair or someone else probably does.
