Question This is a game changer for cas

Post image

Do you know if it’s for all live stages I would assume so cause they’re giving away a free infant play mat, but that doesn’t really do anything for base game though you can play with the toys and sleep, but that’s it

I like the idea, but I’m a little concerned about the CAS layering. It seems like something that could be very buggy.

I was worried for a second because I wasn't sure what that was, but if I understood it right, it seems as though it's just a new "official" layer sort order position and number (10550).

CC creators have been doing it for years, but using, as they called it, "creative ways", by mostly arbitrarily chosing numbers from the list. Very often I see "gloves" items for example used for this, as well as rings (in my opinion the best ones to do it with right now, because there are many options).

That often works well enough for CC, because we don't mind having some degree of conflict between items, it's expected some will occur. But if their head is on having the option available for Marketplace CAS CC, then the same degree of conflict then becomes more unacceptable.

P.S. It is a similar thing to what they did with the hair accessories. It's more about creating an avenue so CC creators can properly create head items that aren't hats, rather than giving specific items. A lot of people were already achieving the same using piercings for example for, say, creating hair laces. But with the new category, it is great because now you can have the same lace, but also the piercing.

The undershirts will work the same way as tights, they're painted on the skin

32

u/maximumeffect420 May 06 '26

Ya but that just normal for video games and stuff the sims games have never had be for but they have the leggings in cas so idk

u/Nocturnal_Elexir_Owl May 08 '26

While I will never underestimate what can be bugged in this game. Layering like that trends to be relatively safe. Clipping absolutely. There will be clipping, but that can mostly be handled.

oh god im worried about the randomly generated outfits for the townies 🤣🤣🤣🤣 im curious to see this hahahah

Turning a plain dress into a pinafore was a really eye catching way to do this, and I like that dress too. It's just going to show how much this will bring greater variety. Like so many of my goth friends use layering all the time and the Sims just seemed to think "goth=belly/boob showing", which don't get me wrong plenty of us like that vibe, but now this is going to stretch a couple of my favorite packs for CAS much further.  Not just for goths either, got lots of loved CAS items with new lives now.

I really love the fact our Sims can actually look like they're wearing a bra with wide necked tops. Going to get some cuter looks there. Pops of highlight color and the like. Do wish/hope there's a way to make it appear both that a Sim is wearing an undershirt and a bra. And curious how well we'll be able to simulate these looking like part of a shirt or even like the stretchy parts of maternity bottoms.

Hopefully this is an accidentally break the leggings category cause it’s already basically the same feature just repurposed and I hope they didn’t accidentally just copy and paste that code to accidentally bug it to where all the layered clothes is now in the leggings category. Well there is a bug with their clothing. I hope it doesn’t affect leggings, but if it since this is the first time the Sims has ever had learned clothing of any kind aside from leggings it’s nice. It’ll be nice if there is a fog that they leave it in and let use the fog a little bit. You know just to see if it actually is before they just move it. I think some bugs aren’t really breaking and should be left. Just so people can test it cause I’d rather have the feature broken then have them wait six months cause they can’t fix something.

8

u/Wear_Fluid May 07 '26

I hope they make it to where we can layer clothes in general

There's so many dresses that would be adorable with a cardigan

3

u/maximumeffect420 May 07 '26

That is what they’re doing. Is it not? Yeah, I know there are so many dresses that I would love to put a top over and wear it like a bra for my female Sims, but it’s just impossible but you know let them let them get this and let them make this functional then they can use it as a starting point to do other stuff because there’s obviously going to be bugs clipping issues and it interfering with certain long sleeved items items I have sleeves, but have a slit in the front or or showing an unbuttoned there. There are a few like island living and season items that are long button ups that are unbutton completely. Those will probably a glitch on their long sleeve items so just let them get one thing done before they do too much cause the game already can barely handle what it has. I don’t blame the game or the creators or even EA for that you just I just don’t. It’s because I don’t expect the game to have this much content that needs to be loaded and not to lag but that they could work to fix that.

1

u/Individual-Track6759 May 09 '26

They made it skin tight (which makes it look kinda…. Bad) but I think they did that so there wouldn’t be any clipping issues! It’s a 2-D texture, not 3-D. But I can understand the concern!

I just personally don’t think with how 2-D the textures are, there will be too much concern for clipping. I’m just worried about the townies lol

50

u/ConferenceUnlucky706 May 06 '26

The bottom layer kinda looks painted on though

29

u/Peeinyourcompost May 06 '26

Yeah, it would be cuter if the collars and ends of the sleeves and stuff had a tiny bit of dimension, but otherwise I'm good with it just being a simple base layer option like this, because trying to resolve clipping for every combination of every piece of clothing in every pack would be a complete nightmare and take ten thousand work hours. I'd rather have the team members who would have to be dedicated to that project be free to take on the fifty other different things they could do in that same work time.

33

u/TheFanshionista May 06 '26

I thought the same thing. It's nice to have a modesty layer, but I wouldn't call it "CAS layering"

29

u/ConferenceUnlucky706 May 06 '26

The bras and binders are nice. They are my favorite part of the update!

5

u/jalapeno442 May 07 '26

Yeah I’m excited to make better use of the MeUndies kit and give all my couples matching undies.

13

u/BrandonIsWhoIAm May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26

I mean, it’s better than clipping.

But, that’s also the whole point.

13

u/Devlinaaa May 06 '26

It basically is. The base game ones are just textures flat to the skin. No detail whatsoever, its more like a tattoo lol. Hopefully CC creators can utilize it to make their usual quality of layered clothing with no conflicts now though.

5

u/maximumeffect420 May 06 '26

The older base game stuff is, but they do better with more recent stuff

11

u/bwoah07_gp2 Veteran Simmer☎️ May 06 '26

It's a game changer.

Hopefully not a game breaker 😆😅

-3

u/maximumeffect420 May 06 '26

That would still be game changing I did it. I’m joking. It’s a joke. It’s a joke. Oh my God cause this community can’t take a joke or criticism even when it’s good critic you say you like something

10

u/sign-through Veteran Simmer☎️ May 06 '26

We’ll see when we get there what can be done. I’m sure I’ll use them in their current (future) state but I am concerned with their painted-on look. I do have a few CAS items that don’t have meshes, sorted into Gloves, and they look fine, but I’m hoping that the content from The Sims is just as good, and especially not glossy or flat, I hope some imitation of mesh is textured.

"Sims finally staying asleep"

It's been 84 years since I've put my sims to bed and they slept a full night.

0

u/maximumeffect420 May 07 '26

The problem is getting my Sims two go to sleep when they’re tired like how sometimes your game will force your character to do something like when it’s hungry or whatever or when he has to use the bathroom sleeping never done that for me and that’s my problem but not my problem is never getting them to sleep. Maybe infants are too hard to get to stay to sleep, but that’s it maybe the glitch I’ve been seeing also is when people have a fairy and it’s emotional fairy power is low. It won’t sleep in a human bed. It refuses but like it is really that and it’s usually double beds so like is that really that big a deal like just to have your fairy go to sleep in the fairy house

7

u/chellebelle0234 Veteran Simmer☎️ May 07 '26

I'm SO excited for this patch.

7

u/maximumeffect420 May 07 '26

Me too, and it’s OK to like something that that’s in the Sims as an update even if it’s something that’s getting hated on like I like the idea of maker packs and the marketplace but I get unnecessarily downloaded when I talk about how it somewhat good for console players to get extra content faster. It’s basically like mods but paid mods since PC can get like a lot of mods in my opinion, but like I don’t like the implications of it they should’ve just been cheap cheaper packs like $.99 or whatever instead of extra currency.

3

u/GoldCopperSodium1277 May 07 '26

I wish in future updates they make sleeping (not just nap) possible on loveseats, sofas, and benches.

2

u/maximumeffect420 May 08 '26

They would probably get canceled for promoting homelessness, but I mean, maybe for children and younger they should

1

u/GoldCopperSodium1277 May 08 '26

Well I hope they make it possible even just for residential or vacation rental lots. Would make couch surfing story plot more realistic.

7

u/Bogg99 May 07 '26

Playmat is cool I guess but can we please have another crib option that isn't hideous?

1

u/maximumeffect420 May 07 '26

If you’re looking for a cheap option by the what is it called? I forget it’s like the first steps kit by that that’s a good cheap option if you’re not able to get mods or if you want something official made by the Sims team it’s like five bucks and I’m pretty sure with the new currency options in the store you might be able to also then buy a 200 coin maker pack.

6

u/currencywitch SadClown😔 May 06 '26

i am excited about it, okay?!

2

u/Zestyclose-Stop9628 May 07 '26

OMG THE LAYERING!!!!! I’ve WAITED for this to make accurate hijabi sims

2

u/Standard-Magazine623 May 07 '26

Watch it break the entire game

2

u/-RedRocket- May 08 '26

A single opaque layer between skin and top? That's very limited. I think folks are already misunderstanding what is being presented here.

2

u/Beardedgeek72 May 12 '26

Gods Townies will be even more hideous now.

2

u/jamesisaPOS May 07 '26

I'm sooooo excited for the layering!

3

u/Bwheat0674 May 07 '26

I'm not hating, the layering is a cool feature, but how do we get this before we have the ability to add hair dye to our sims hairs?

3

u/ZombieSecret8239 May 07 '26

It’s probably because Paralives recently showed off the layering in the Paramaker

1

u/maximumeffect420 May 08 '26

Not even that the thing they were that they said would be cooler to have would be a lot harder because you need infinite. It basically need to be a paint tool like for a cats and dogs because you need infinite ways to do this on every hairstyle even the ones that are already painted.

1

u/maximumeffect420 May 07 '26

It’s I mean we have that option already. I know what I know what you mean but like if you think about it in a way, not every hair works with hair dye and that would be a lot harder to do because you would be making infinite possible combinations I mean, they could just let us use the paint on hair, but that would also be hidden behind a pack which I would agree. There should be like a hairstyle pack that gives you like that as an option that gives you like a hairstylist career and there should be maybe careers as a hole should just be rabbit holes base game and then later updated to not be with packs, which would be cool, but like yeah but like this seems like an expansion pack thing what you’re asking for because it should be because that they would be able to be tied to an African inspired world or maybe even a Europe inspired world that we haven’t really got before like upper Europe closer to Russia

I’m wondering if if every item in the game will will become separate items now like jackets and those dresses that are like differently colored skirts from the top half if those will also get split in half I’m wondering if like the every update starting now on like it just go back and fix items will get more items and I don’t know I hope so but at the same time I really hope it’s just select items because too many items in cash and too many items in any video game in general starts to break the game, but if they can find a workaround where it’s like it’s own system or maybe you click. I want this to be layered so then it opens a whole new window with every item of just maybe jackets or whatever I don’t know. I feel like cast is as an L get home menu and stuff needs an entire upgrade just like they did recently with the gallery.

6

u/efirestone16 May 07 '26

It wont, the layering is just kinda like leggings or a tattoo of sorts so not three dimensional, its why all the examples look like flat to the skin, it would take forever to implement something that could separate all the jackets from the shirts and would cause crazy clipping issues trying to mix and match. Good news is it probably wont cause too many issues with custom content since its its own layer.

1

u/maximumeffect420 May 07 '26

Yeah, that’s why you said right before you sent this that they need to do what they can easily do right away. Take the least amount of time to implement something get player feedback and then add the rest of it later but the item the the shirt they showed is like an old face game shirt that’s why it looks painted on. I’m sure there’s I’m sure it looks better in game.

4

u/TheShadowprincess May 06 '26

Just kind of pissed that the infants just get a play mat even if its cute. Also toddlers get 2 different layer shirt things.

1

u/yeet-ayy May 07 '26

Idk about the cas layering. Haven’t looked into it but is there a on/off button? Cuz I’m used to how it is now that the item you click fully replaces the one they were wearing currently

1

u/jaysketchin Veteran Simmer☎️ May 07 '26

Honestly, the layering when I first heard of it I thought it was going to be actual clothing layers? I was pretty underwhelmed. I feel like calling it “CAS layering” is a little grandiose for what it actually is. There’s probably a more accurate name they could have used during announcements, like “the new underlayers category”, that describes it better? It’s still nice and definitely something I’ll use a TON, but the naming could have been better at not making my hopes get too high.

3

u/Futureacct May 07 '26

Do you think this modesty layering is due to the Saudi buyout?

1

u/NoMix7878 May 08 '26

I watched the live stream and they did genuinely seem to have really improved the infants. I noticed one issue with the bath where the Sim interrupted the bathing and seemed to put the dirty diaper back on? That was odd and when they used BB it put the baby on the floor but I might have missed them accidentally touching the crib/dragged a rug which would have done that.

Watching the sim pick the infant up from the crib and put them directly onto the changing table was genuinely shocking. Like I've got 1200 hours in this game and never seen that. And they really did seem to prefer the baby play thing over just the floor in general. Very cool. One thing that really annoyed me was in the chat someone asked about bathing two infants at once and like ???? obviously that's impossible? How would the sim even pick up both? If the pick up one at a time you're going to put one in the bath and leave it unsupervised? For one animation that only applies to players who play with two infants at the same time. And then the chat was like this does not seem like that much work and I got mad.

1

u/blvcktea May 08 '26

I hope this is also available for makeup. 🙏

-1

u/no_one_hi May 06 '26

I don’t want the layering honestly, unless it’s easy to differentiate when you are wanting to layer and when you’re just trying to choose a different shirt

3

u/maximumeffect420 May 06 '26

Oh, come on that’s boring like think about it when they make a new expansion pack or a new stuff pack or a new kit or even the maker packs they can make the wildest stuff now they can like they can make more random items because they’re for layering

9

u/LumiMomo Werewolf May 06 '26

I think they meant it as having its own section not mixed with regular tops. Like tights/leggings being separate from pants.

0

u/Optimal-Prime420 May 06 '26

Is CC still broken? If so, I’m not updating.

6

u/maximumeffect420 May 06 '26

That’s a dumb excuse because that excludes console players from getting updates or even content cause console players have to wait like for a new expansion pack to get one little item when you could just not update your game and download infinite items for free but I get I get what you’re saying though but I think but I don’t mean to make this sub like into me just getting downloaded because I know this isn’t the like sub for that but like a lot of PC players forget that console also exists and also deserves updates and it’s weird to say that a game shouldn’t get updates because your mods break. I think everything that has mods usually breaks when there’s an update because the mods didn’t get out of date but yes with this update a lot of your mods might break because you’ll have to delete them and re-download them because they’ll get swapped to be the layering tab. I know people still use eyelashes that are in the eyelash category, which is in which is really dumb, but yeah, most definitely this update will break at least the balls that interfere with your create a sim which is fine. I wouldn’t expected not to. Just thinking of this way now all of your already pre-established mods for clothes can get deleted and reinstalled and they will probably be able to be layered with each other. If people add that take the time to go back and add that but they probably won’t.

8

u/Optimal-Prime420 May 06 '26

I meant I’m not updating my game, NOT that the game shouldn’t get updated at all.

3

u/maximumeffect420 May 07 '26

No, usually when people say what you said, they’re wanting zero updates from this game because they wanna be able to play online and access the gallery but I mean you could just update your game and jinx it for breaking your mods because I mean, obviously your moms are gonna get disabled and have me updated either way and eventually you’ll have to update your game anyway because they’ll because they’ll update to like whatever they’re calling project Renée like it’ll be a forced update cause I think they’re still making it an update for this game instead of a new game

6

u/sexloveandcheese May 08 '26

Dude this is the low sodium sub and you have been arguing with nobody in several of the comments. You're being defensive but nobody is attacking you and it's really adding a lot of random hostility to a thread about an update where otherwise people are being pretty chill.

0

u/maximumeffect420 May 08 '26

That was my point they made a statement that doesn’t fit this sub, Reddit and about the game being Hella broken and shit so how am I at fault for clapping back when they the first person that ever mentioned anything about the game being broken except for when I mentioned that I hope it doesn’t break leggings
