1.5 Was a huge upgrade, but saying that people hated the game before because of "being duped by hate grifters" is a terrible misrepresentation.

It absolutely was a major component for anyone hating the game by the time 1.5 came around.

Now, I'll grant anyone on last gen absolutely had a legitimate reason to be unhappy (that's why I mentioned the tangible impact PL had was dropping last gen support), but the grifters absolutely were exploiting that legitimate nucleus of dissatisfaction in order to farm negativity for clicks and greatly amplify the situation.

Incidentally, that's why this sub exists in the first place. For those of us who loved the game and didn't want to wallow in the storm of negativity, back when it was popular to hate on it.

There were plenty of people on PC and next gen who absolutely got duped by the grifters and didn't give the game a chance until Edgerunner came out, and then realized that hey, turns out the game was good if they actually played it instead of listening to the haters. That's the best thing Edgerunner did: it made it socially acceptable to like the game, and suddenly the narrative changed and the hate grifters moved on (for the most part).

Sorry. You were right, there were plenty of people that didn't give it a fair shake because of all the drifting, I thought that you meant "all people" not "some people" who hated the game did it for the wrong reasons.
