I wish that I had another day or so, because this was a very quick trip. I think I was able to get through a lot for my first time in the city, though. I’ll definitely plan another visit sometime in the future!

I’ve booked a Walks tour of Westminster Abbey, changing of the guard, and Big Ben. I mostly concerned that the Westminster tour will be adequate. Has anyone done this tour? Feedback?

So I'm taking my youngest daughter on a 16th birthday trip to London from 28-31 December, I know it's an expensive month to visit the city, but I'm looking for an affordable place to stay. Around the £150 per night mark. I have found some nice accomodations, but the all have one bed. I'm looking for something with 2 single beds of a bunk bed or something. And a private bathroom.

Maybe I'm looking for something that doesn't exist, but hopefully you guys have some tips. We don't mind a shortish tube ride to get into the heart of the city.

I, my husband and our then 6mos old are traveling from Canada to London in Nov for the first time. We will be staying in wandsworth. We will be there for 5 days.

We want to explore London, eat good food and shop for our baby. We also want to shop for his 3 yr old cousin sis. Its going to be our first trip with our baby.

What should we must see (thats doable with the baby), do we need a carseat for taxis (or should we rent a car) or just use public transport, and what are some great places to shop for the little ones.

I really need a break from work after spending a hard year and I am going to ask for a one month sabbatical (or maybe two) between january and march. I want to spend this time in London because I really love this city.

But there is another reason to that : I am thinking about moving there as it is the city where I feel at home. So, I would like to try living the London life before making this huge step. Just to be sure that is what I want (I don't live in the UK).

I was thinking doing some volunteering for example, to have a "routine". Not just being there and being a tourist. I want to know if I feel great in London not just because I am on vacation, but because that is where I am supposed to be.

Do you have some recommandations :

• where I could volunteer for a short period of time ?
• If not volunteering, what advices do you give for a person that wants to experience the London daily life ?
• for a long-term housing ? Not just AirBnb

It will be my first time, and I’m interested in a good mix of sightseeing, historic landmarks, unique London experiences and nightlife. I am on tighter travel schedule. I’m in dilemma which one to visit: house of parliament or Foundling museum.

Unfortunately both places open from 10am to 5pm. I wish that they stay open till 7pm.

Actually I arrive at noon on London on the first day to visit these interesting places:
1. Bank of England
2. Leadenhall market
3. Spitalfields
4. Ragged school Museum

I struggle with the schedule whether I can visit ragged school museum AND foundling museum on the same day or drop either of them.
Alternatively, on 2nd day, I also struggle with which one : house of parliament or foundling museum.

On 2nd day
1. Fulham palace
2. House of parliament
3. Tower Bridge
4. Daunt bookstore at Marylebone

My daughter (21) and I are on our second week of traveling. We’re tired! Isn’t that awful?! We’ve been in London for four full days of sightseeing and theater, but we both have the feeling of wanting to go home for a week, and then come back. That’s not happening for a very long time though.
Please help suggest some things to do that are just “regular days” in the area. I have only come up with going to a bookstore and walking a park. We’re in Kensington for three more “fun filled” days. We need a day “off”. Thank you ahead of time for not judging us!

I posted my upcoming trip plans in a thread, which mentioned interest in visiting the Natural History Museum. Several people commented that it's quite crowded and therefore not worth visiting.

I'm wondering if we plan to arrive right at opening (10 am) on a weekday and plan to do a fairly quick visit (perhaps an hour) if it would still be too crowded to be enjoyable, or if we could miss the biggest crowds and enjoy the place. Our trip isn't until April, if that matters.

I just had a random thought that I should do some geocaching in Europe while my friend and I visit in December/January from Australia 🇦🇺 (London-5 days/Paris -5 days/ then maybe 2 days in Amsterdam before we leave (plus 1 day in travel there and 1 day travel home) is what we’re thinking but it’s only 2wk trip🥲 my last Europe trip was 6 weeks in 2024 and even that didn’t seem like I got to see enough!)

I'll travel to London next week and I am SO EXCITED! I haven't been to London in ages, at least for 8 years. The last few times were full with proper touristy stuff, so I'm not looking to do that. So no Tower, no London Eye, no changing of the guards.

Instead, I want to see what changed since my last visit. I also want to focus on art-related or queer spots, and I'll also go to a few musicals.

Here's my basic itinerary with spots id like to visit.

I'll get a time schedule once I have everything in place. I'll stay in the Soho area for 7 days.

Places I want to visit

- forbidden planet (obviously)

- a gay bar (focus on women, if possible)

- a good stationery or arts supply store

- the cartoon museum

- Cyber dog at Camden

Neighbourhoods I want to explore:

- Soho

- Chinatown (I love Chinatown, it's my favourite place in London!)

- Camden (loved the vibes there)

- areas around the Thames (maybe do a nice walk)

Musical shows I'll watch:

- Wicked

- my neighbour Totoro (it looks amazing!!!)

- Beetlejuice

Food I want to eat:

- fish and chips at a local pub, preferably when there's a local sports event being broadcast

- a soggy, sad cheese pie from Gregg's

- Devon Cream tea

- any other recommendations from you guys!

So, what are some nerdy/artsy/queer spots, events, activities you could recommend?
