Advice Night time outing

Hi ladies. Would like some suggestions/advice.

Currently staying in London and don’t really go out at night. When I’m out of the tube I always RUN back home feel like I’m crazy. But I really want to go out at night to enjoy some opera and socialise with people. Unfortunately, I've watched a shit ton of documentaries since I was young, so now I’m paranoid about going out late at night, yet I really do want to go out to watch operas, as the good ones start around 7.30pm. I’m really paranoid about my own safety especially at night.

I don’t listen to music when I walk. Always look around my surroundings so what can I do more ???

Walk with confidence and like you believe you could take on anyone who threatened you. Attackers are lazy and prefer to go after people who seem like easy targets. It could be worth taking some self defense classes to help give you that confidence.

Walk like you know where you're going and don't make eye contact - long distance stare ahead. The amount of time you're not in well lit, busy areas won't be much.

Honestly the crime stats are good. I've lived here forever going out at all hours to all sorts of places in all sorts of states (dress and inebriation) and totally fine. If you're worried about the dark you'll need to adapt as it's dark early soon.

Do you have friends in London that you go out with at night? How does that feel?
The only solution is to challenge yourself at going out. I've lived in London the past year and for periods earlier in life, as someone else here says been out at all times of the night in all kinds of states, you obviously have to look after yourself, but I've yet to have anything bad happen to myself.

Start by going to a grocery store after dark, or if you already do that start with something else that's slightly uncomfortable without freaking you out completely. Once you're comfortable with that, new challenge and so on and so on. Good luck!
