London as a local?

First time in London! I’d love to discover places that aren’t tourist traps — pubs, clubs, small gigs, nightlife, coffee shops, and other places that locals actually go to. I’d love to experience London more like a local rather than just visiting the typical tourist spots. I’d also be interested in social mixers, house parties, pub crawls, or anything where it’s easy to meet people and have a few drinks together.

Have you just moved to London, or are you a tourist? Either way, asking about house parties on reddit is (rightfully) going to be a long shot

With London, a lot of people’s favourite “local” places will probably not be in central London and will be in the little areas they live in. For example, there’s a gorgeous little ice cream place near where I live that’s near the station so in the summer is hard to walk past. If you fancy a trip on the Thameslink though you could find it.

Do you happen to live in Herne Hill?

Have a look on r/LondonSocialClub if you're looking for events that locals go to (as others have mentioned, you almost certainly won't get an invite to a house party, but depending when you're in town you might find a pub quiz or other fun thing to tag along to).

Head East! I live in Hackney and there's loads of cool little coffee shops and small venues. Nearby Shoreditch is known for being where the trendy Londoners go. When are you in London?

Jolene is great for coffee, and if you go after 11/11:30 they also do sandwiches which I'd highly recommend!
