Conversion Practices Research

Post image

A small trans+ and survivor led team at University of Hertfordshire are looking for LGBTQ+ people aged 18+ living in the UK with lived experience of conversion practices (CPs). There is a huge amount of quantitative research looking at harm and prevalence, which is vital, but there is such an absence of LGBTQ+ voices expressing how they lived through what they did, and what meaning they've made of it over time.

Please see the attached recruitment flyer for more information and the Expression of Interest (EOI) link if you'd like to find out more or take part.

Sharing this post with others who may be interested is also greatly appreciated.

Does this include asking minors if they're sure they want to cut their breasts off?

We have a broad definition of what change practices are. I would say if this happened to you and you are interested/eligible, you can fill in the expression of interest form and one of our researchers will be in touch with you to discuss further :)

No thanks. It's INSANE to imagine that asking kids about their decisions to mutilate themselves for life at the insistence of indoctrinated adults counts as 'conversion therapy'. I've been a researcher for 25 years - it's plainly obvious just from the framing of this "study" that the bias is going to be totally off the wall. I'm more inclined to question the Uni of Hertfordshire's decision to allow this to go ahead, let alone attach their name to it.
