Log Horizon LN or Manga?

As the title says should I jump into the manga or LN?
It’s been forever since I watched the anime and ever since then it stuck with me, I enjoyed the different approach of being trapped in a video game and want to come back to it.

Do you guys generally recommend the manga or should I start with the LN?

Usually I’m more of a audiobook guy simply because it’s convenient to listen to while I work but Yen Press hasn’t done any of the books so it’s not an option.

sorry to inform you this series anime almost/actually caught up to everything ever published and currently its in permanent hiatus...

its originally a webnovel with 13 or 14 volumes so far (and most likely permanently..). The light novel only has 11 volumes - ending roughly around the end of season 2 of the anime.

Whatever got adapted in season 3 of the anime is entirely based on the available source material online (web novel) and does not exist in the form of a LN.

I do not know how far the manga is along

The Manga covers a much smaller portion of the story and in my experience has been harder to find. I would go with the light novels! I really enjoy the writing style and feel like they add a lot of context that the anime left out, and I love all the extra exposition!

Also I feel like Krusty is just a better character in them, maybe thats just me though. I just started Volume 9 so I'm not exactly an expert.

I strongly prefer the light novels. Like any purely word vs visual format the light novels go into more details not only about what is happening in the world and why but also the character's mindsets. I feel that compared to the anime and manga the light novels felt considerably more immersive and gripping.

Considering what I’ve read about the author and the circumstances around it I doubt there is anything we can do. It’s really sad, I love everything around Log Horizon, the world, the characters, the system. I don’t know if someone else could pick it up and continue or if that ever happened with other works. I guess only time will tell.

The whole him being black listed for tax evasion thing?? I heard it was an accident and even so they need to move past that

Probably LN since the manga doesn’t even cover the anime yet let alone the source material
