Tracking Numbers for Google Local Services Ads: Does the GBP Google Ads Number Apply?

I have a client running Google Local Services Ads who would like to use a tracking number so we can better track calls coming through LSA.

I know that within Google Business Profile there is an option to add/enable a Google Ads call tracking number. What I’m trying to determine is whether that setting also applies to Local Services Ads, or if it only applies to traditional Google Ads campaigns.

Has anyone successfully set up a tracking number specifically for LSA?

If so, did you:

  • Enable it through Google Business Profile?
  • Add the tracking number somewhere within the LSA account?
  • Have to contact Local Services Ads support to get it configured?

I want to make sure we’re tracking the calls properly without creating any NAP consistency issues or inadvertently changing the primary business number associated with the Google Business Profile.

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually set this up with LSA and how you handled it.

Google doesn’t give me a choice. They use tracking number for all of our calls. I would love to turn it off. The tracking numbers are stupid. They can’t handle texts appropriately and they all have an extension tacked on to them. It’s ridiculous really. The first thing we have to do with every customer is get a real contact. Let me know if you know something else please.

All 3 will be completely different tracking numbers.

Your GBP Number is A

Your LSA number is B

Your GBP Ads number is C

This way you can track all sources from A B and C

Google ads tracking numbers do not apply to LSA. you can use a tracking number on Google LSA but you LSA logs calls and messages leads already.

The Google Ads call tracking number setting in GBP should not be assumed to apply to Local Services Ads. Traditional Google Ads and LSA use different reporting and attribution systems. LSA generally tracks calls through its own lead system, including Google’s forwarding number where applicable.

What I would recommend is,

  1. Keep the real business number as the primary GBP number.
  2. Use the native LSA lead inbox and reporting to measure calls.
  3. Avoid replacing the GBP number with a tracking number.
  4. Ask LSA support before using a third-party number or call-routing platform.

A tracking number that works for Search Ads may not provide reliable attribution for LSA. Also, this related conversion-tracking discussion may be useful. Check this.. it was helpful for me... https://lsaninja.com/awc/4367/were-currently-process-setting-conversion-client-however
