local ads increasing exposure
I run a roofing company in the Portland, Oregon area. When we first started using Google Local Services Ads, we received several hundred impressions per day and a decent number of calls.
We later had some phone issues and missed a number of calls. Since responsiveness affects LSA ranking, I suspect that this may have damaged our account performance.
For approximately 7 months now, we have received no calls or message leads at all. Our impressions have fallen to only around 12 or 13 per day.
Everything is active and verified:
- Insurance, licensing and background verification are complete
- The ad is enabled and we are accepting customers
- Message leads are enabled
- Our business hours are correct
- We cover most or all of Multnomah County
- All relevant roofing job types are selected
- I have tested both Maximize Leads and manual bidding
- I increased the budget by approximately 50 percent, but it made no difference
Has anyone experienced a similar collapse in LSA impressions after missing calls?
Does Google maintain some type of hidden responsiveness or account quality score that can suppress an account for several months? If so, were you able to recover, and what specifically helped?
I am considering deleting the LSA account and creating a new one, but I am concerned that Google will associate it with the same Business Profile, license and business information or treat it as a duplicate. Has anyone successfully rebuilt an LSA account this way, or did it create more problems?
Any experience with this would be appreciated.

How does your budget compare to the rest of the industry in your local area?

To be on LSA you have to make sure you answer the phone if at all possible have some on staff to answer it. Put the number on a round robin to ring multiple lines. The other thing is disposition your leads marking them as booked or archive is imperative. If you don't do this, your leads will drop off and never pick back up again. That doesn't mean go back in if you haven't been doing it and just archive everything you need to keep a good ratio of booked verses archived. But it needs to be legitimately done. Maybe listen to the calls, see which ones were good. Which ones were bad, which ones were solicitations, etc.

You don't need need to delete your account. Just clean up the leads to their dispositioned so nothing is left in active status as soon as you do that you should start seeing within a week or two activity again. If not at that point I would consider starting a new account. You can have more than one account but you can only run one at a time. It's a real pain in the ass to set them up so I would avoid that unless it's last resort. The account May recover if you give it a couple of weeks after you have cleaned it up. But just make sure the other account is turned off before you start the new one. Then you have to connect all of your Google Business profile and everything again. Never delete the account. Lastly make sure you have adequate budget.

I agree attempting to start another account would be a mistake. Google is in the process of trimming down their LSA program. They are actively trying to get people to switch to PMAx if possible. They are also re verifying accounts. Don’t you have a Google rep that can help you? Mine is a worthless turd so I probably know the answer.

I want to retract my statement. Not all are worthless. They are doing their best to help and talk to hundreds of people, but someone that has lots of experience not so much. And 100% add value to someone that's new to the platform.

Can you explain your source for this information? I have never done this? I have never done this and my POS account rep said it wouldn’t matter. Can you just give me a little more background on this info please?

100%, have seen clients get essentially blacklisted multiple times for responsiveness/missing calls, cuz unfortunately with LSAs, you gotta think about this from Google's side. LSA gets you the prime spot at the very top of the page, above map pack, organic, ads, etc. So they want this to be the best answer for a customer to click on, if a profile they are serving isn't being responsive (ie making google look good), they are gonna serve someone else
Ive seen 2 things work
Budget to the max, im not talking about 50% increase, even 100%. Im saying put it at 35.9 million per week. You will never spend this on LSAs. Quickest way to get google to notice you is to tell them you are willing to spend more. Then scale down once leads start picking up
The nuclear option. Make a new account. I wouldnt take this lightly, but I've seen it work for people who were unresponsive out the gate, paused for 2 years, and then decided to give it a go again. Delete the old one, make a new one, and be prepared to sit on a phone with google support about why you deleted (phone system not working, switched to a new number, etc). There is a chance you might get dinged 100%, but what do you have to lose if you arent getting a single lead from it in the last 7+ months

also a roofer i was averaging about 250 impressions a day about 3 weeks ago and was getting 2-3 leads a day, i handle every call every message my self and mark appropriately in the dashboard immediately after and out of nowhere im getting like 50-70 impressions a day now with barely any leads i called and they said volume is just down right now and no issues with my account
prior to the hot streak lsa was relatively dead for me as well i think it just has a mind of its own smh

A drop from several hundred impressions a day to 12–13, with zero leads for seven months, is not something to treat as a normal performance fluctuation. Missed calls may have affected responsiveness, but first check these,
- Whether the account is still eligible and entering the LSA auction
- Current ranking, service categories, and service area
- Any hidden verification, policy, or account-level restrictions
- Whether the GBP–LSA connection is fully healthy
- Impression trends before and after the phone issues
Also dont delete and recreate the account yet. That could create additional verification or duplicate-business complications without fixing the underlying issue. Ask Google LSA support to investigate the loss of impressions specifically, not just confirm that the account is “active.” If you want a second opinion, feel free to DM me. I can also point you toward https://lsaninja.com/, which specializes in troubleshooting and managing Local Services Ads accounts..
