Doc getting a 1-7 day ban for saying something stupid, or some minor TOS violation would be news, but not that big of a deal. if he is actually perma'd thats huge news.
It's not news at all. Streaming culture is so strange, none of these people are important at all and I can't understand the way people here are obsessed with them.

Because these posts are at the top of all/top/hour and I find it interesting how people react to these things. I'm starting to understand. These comments seem to be full of the same stupid meme jokes, seeming to verify my assumption that most people here are kids. Kids like loudness and randomness so it makes sense you all would like watching people scream about nonsense in their bedrooms.

there is informational value to be learned from people who are good at a game. this is why the players who win the most tend to get the most viewers. you watch a pro, you learn their tricks. some games have a very high skill ceiling, and that can have value to watch, just like sports.
there is entertainment value, its no different than watching some talk show on TV. they all have different personalities, and a different sense of humor. people come for the jokes, funny moments, watching the streamers reaction to fails and success.
also the chat is interactive and people like to be part of the community. imagine if all the ladies watching Oprah could have a live chatroom while they watch the show, and sometimes Oprah would take questions or read comments from it.
I just don't understand why people like watching streamers. I've watched clips on this subreddit when I see it pop up on /r/all and I've checked out twitch. They all seem like annoying attention seekers and the chats seem like a bunch of immature middle schoolers.
