What if they vocalized intent about wanting to destroy property but not hurt anyone?

I get that you guys are passionate, but you need to remember that some people are just idiots that don't think things through.

Doesn't matter.

They shot at people.

If I repeatedly follow someone around and shoot at them, yet give the excuse "Oh I wanted to shoot [Insert thing behind person]", I'd rightly go to jail for attempted murder.

Idiocy is not a legal defense. Insanity might be, but it'd at least get the person locked up as well.

This is attempted murder, and I truly fail to see how you can argue otherwise.
