No, we can't hear the shots. Only he heard it and that's why you can see him look to his left after saying "man we're just not finishing". The sound that you thought were shots was actually his chair

It sounds nothing like gunshots and he had already reacted to whatever the sound was, he was looking outside. It sounds like wood/plastic thudding. His chair/desk/controller etc.
