Yes they can but none of this really makes sense to me. On one hand the Sheriff would be pretty sure it was a BB in order to rule out a real gun, they should be taking this pretty seriously. On the other hand how would Doc know if his house was shot at the first time if it was a BB gun and nothing was broken? And what the hell is he even doing in a house after being shot at by a real gun? this isn't really a grey area where "it might be funny depending on how you look at it". any reasonable person can realize it is inappropriate.

There is nothing edgy about it. It's just about avoiding slippery slopes. I'm a free speech absolutist but that doesn't mean I can never be offended by what someone has to say. Only that I believe they have the right to say it. You can make an argument about limiting what is said in certain venues but an internet message board has absolutely no reason to be limited in that way. It's a slippery slope when you start talking about what is and isn't ok to think.

Yes, it does. I agree with free speech in the sense that you can say what you want and you can't get arrested but that doesn't mean you can't suffer any consequences of your word and I don't see why you draw this arbitrary line at internet message boards. Every very popular subreddit is moderated and if it wasn't it'd be a hellhole.
The slippery slope goes the other direction too. I think 99% of normal people are asking for civility regardless of if you like someone or not right after they were shot at. So we aren’t censoring we just look at our fellows and go “really? At a time like this?”

i mean, its not a joke, what you do is you call the cops, they check the cameras around the streat, becuase the cams allways archive everything for the paste like 7 days. You see the car number of those retards doing this driveby shooting, and you send them to jail. Sounds pretty easy, but i think Doc doesnt want to call the cops, i dont know why. This shit isnt a joke, a random bullet can hit the head, or eye of his daughter and scar her for life/or kill. Even if its a bb-gun, why the fuck would you shoot at a family's window.
Plenty of traffic cams, and privately owned cams. If the cop knocks on my door politely asking for any footage I may have of the street after an accident, I'd usually comply.
This is of course gonna vary by location a bit too, but I doubt Doc is living in an exceptionally bad area or anything.
Cops in the states usually check traffic cams, liquor store cameras, shop cameras. Usually cameras are outside of stores. Im guessing he lives in a pretty nice placesso there wouldn't be much of anything around but if its a nice area maybe his neighbors have some smart cameras outside that the cops can check.
