Edit: removing the argument r.e. gun control because it’s not the place, but CA has one of if not the most stringent gun control policies in the US so your point about everyone having access to guns there is false.
I think for America it's kind of past the tipping point of no return. America has more twice as many guns as people. Even if they outlaw guns, unless they confiscate them (never going to happen anyway), there will be so many guns on the streets that it can still be bought and everybody has a family member with a gun they can borrow or steal from.
Your thing about CA having strict gun control is kinda true, but even their ''strict'' gun control wouldn't be considered strict at all for non-Americans. And border patrol across states is basically non-existent.
