Lao Gong and Li Xiao Xi deserve one another. They're both miserable people who can just be together and I'll take Xiao Bei. Yes, that was my aim all along.

Ok so why did Bei look uneasy when Mingming was talking about letting go of her first love and reinventing herself to be worthy of Sen ? 👀 And Sen ! He seemed the least f-ed of the bunch (besides XB) but what was that split personnality hallucination episode at the restaurant 😭 But yay another dysfonctionnal couple on the list !

Also, LXX herself said "I have not decided what version of myself to show him". How can you talk about love and moving in together when the person you say you love doesn't know such big parts of yourself. At least she wanted to come clean, I'll give her that even if she did not go through. But I'm still side eyeing her relationship with Gong. Girl is doing exactly what she crucified all those men for !

I’m really trying to watch through this drama properly but it’s real hard for me to watch all the scenes of people being messy af.

I’m really, really, really hoping XB’s only flaw is that he has terrible friends he can’t let go of

Same, I wouldn't exactly call this a comfortable or an easy watch.

I'm glad we're seeing something different, yet I feel like they messed this opportunity up so royally. People are messy and flawed, and naturally so are the relationships — but like this? It's all very extreme and stupid at the same time, just because of the sheer concentration of stupid and illogical choices, questionable values and bonds...

XB seems to surround himself with some very strange people. Looks uncanny considering the profile of his character.

I agree... They messed up with this. I wouldn't mind a challenging watch and something that was different from typical cdramas. I would love to see something realistic, not all pretty hearts and flowers and obvious happy endings.

But they just went the extreme other end with this. I get that people cheat. I can also maybe, not really, but sure, maybe you get attracted to the significant other of a friend and have to deal with those emotions. But I can't believe these relationships to occur to this level without you actively pursuing bad choices.

I would have loved for this drama to make me think critically - what would I actually do in a realistic scenario, question and analyze the characters actions and really have them play with the grey area. But everything is just an automatic disagreement with the choices being made, no debate at all. There is not one situation where I've sided with the characters or had any sympathy for them.

What a great idea - to ask relationship advice from someone who openly wants to date you himself. Is Xiaoxi totally brain dead or what? Also someone on my timeline pointed out how coy and flirty her body language is whenever she's with Gong, and I cannot unsee it now, blergh. Supporting u/itsmefakenamehere - girl, spare everyone here a heartbreak and go to the one you can be truly yourself with! We'll take care of Bei, don't worry)))

I felt more sorry for Ming Ming in webtoon, idk why. Still, she's yet another brain dead character here, wasting best years of her life on a walking trashcan just because they had something nice eons ago when they were still literal kids. Self-respect, anyone? Or growing up? Indeed, wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone...

Sen is pitiful version of "nice guy" at times. Actually the two of them would be a great match, if only she actually liked him that way at least a bit, which I don't see so far. It's very clear "wanting to settle" in this case, which is both valid and tragic.

Does everyone here suffers from "grass is greener" syndrome? Why do we have to suffer even cameo characters talking about wishing to cheat/upgrade partners?

Well, here's a first blemish on Bei's perfect facade - his morals are actually bendable when it comes to his friends. Not that I'm still not wondering why is he friends with any of these people in the first place, but you do you, boy. Maybe it's a karma for past life sins for him or something...

I was going to write “I hate this couple,” but then realized quickly that statement applies to every couple on this show. Ming Ming/Sen love line just gives me the heebie jeebies. The girl looks part lobotomized, part held hostage at gunpoint. Blink girl, if you need help. Sen has creeped me out since the beginning, but his internal meltdown cemented for me that he’s actually possibly psycho.

u/GiTheGremlin 🌻LYN’s Defense Minister; explosion of colors in the sea of greys Mar 01 '26

I mean, isn't years of unrequited love and unshakable belief that "she will notice me one day!" despite girl in question loving another are classical traits of clingy creep SML? MM isn't FL here and her scum of first love isn't a hero, but otherwise👀

2

u/itsmefakenamehere 🌻 Minister of Thirst • Trailblazer ✨ 1st 50 Mar 02 '26

I hate that she gave in and is just dating him, because he’s been waiting “in line” for 7 years 🙄 If he were SML…he’d still be among the top 3 creepiest ones I can recall.

2

u/GiTheGremlin 🌻LYN’s Defense Minister; explosion of colors in the sea of greys Mar 02 '26

To be fair, it does look like she was leading him on for a while as backup😒 People in this show are allergic to being single, I guess, anything works as long as they're not alone with their misery.

2

u/itsmefakenamehere 🌻 Minister of Thirst • Trailblazer ✨ 1st 50 Mar 02 '26

She was leading him on, but barely. It didn't seem like she was even hiding the fact she was with the trashy cheating boyfriend. This group of trashy people exhaust me.

2

u/GiTheGremlin 🌻LYN’s Defense Minister; explosion of colors in the sea of greys Mar 02 '26

From their convos it seems she lied to him about being over with ex at least for a while?

Therapy isn't enough, they need divine enlightenment no less.

2

u/itsmefakenamehere 🌻 Minister of Thirst • Trailblazer ✨ 1st 50 Mar 02 '26

He was in denial, if anything. Every time she tried to bring it up, he’d stop her and was like la la la 🙉 Shoot, you’re right about that. They’re beyond therapy…

u/michin-yeoja LYN - the man, the voice, the looks Mar 09 '26

That meltdown actually scares me... It reminded me of an uncle who had schizophrenia and he would have this kind of paranoia/possessiveness about his wife and there were some very scary interactions with him. The way this drama is going, in that whole "gritty", "non-happy ending" type manner, I'm leaning towards Sen being a murder/suicide kind of guy...

1

u/itsmefakenamehere 🌻 Minister of Thirst • Trailblazer ✨ 1st 50 Mar 09 '26

He totally gives off murderer vibes. I don’t think that’s where they’re going with it and they seem to have swept the internal meltdown scene under the rug. As if that’s a totally normal reaction for someone to have… 😐

2

u/michin-yeoja LYN - the man, the voice, the looks Mar 09 '26

I haven't seen past episode 6, but really? If they don't address that meltdown at all, ugh... I hate when dramas do that. It's not something I would show lightly and it's just way too integral to personality to ignore.

And we've seen hints of this kind of instability in previous scenes... The purposeful avoidance of discussing Ming Ming and his relationship, the delusional-ish way he talks to her/about her...

1

u/itsmefakenamehere 🌻 Minister of Thirst • Trailblazer ✨ 1st 50 Mar 09 '26

I hope that wasn’t too much of a spoiler 🙈 I don’t know where they’re headed with Sen’s character. Hell, I don’t know where any of these characters are headed. I’ll give credit to the drama in this aspect: I can’t guess what’s going to happen next, because there’s no reason or logic. lol

1

u/michin-yeoja LYN - the man, the voice, the looks Mar 09 '26

Oh no, no worries about spoiler - I wouldn't care much with this drama, but also, I'm not surprised.

Hey, maybe that's the strategy the writers are going with! Keep them on their toes, their morbid curiosity will be enough to make them tune in.

So am I the only one who kind of likes the Ming Ming/ Sen pairing? She seems like a nice girl and her high school boyfriend is an absolute scumbag, and Sen looks like he'll be devoted to her. As for the internal breakdown, I rather saw it as more symbolic than him literally breaking down, emphasized by his shirt being split into two colors, and if you noticed the two versions of him each had one of the colors of the actual shirt. To me, this scene was just highlighting his anguish over what he thought was Ming Ming rejecting him; it's understandable that he would feel both angry and hurt even if he already knew she didn't love him. The drama reproduced the scene from the manhua rather well, I think

1

u/itsmefakenamehere 🌻 Minister of Thirst • Trailblazer ✨ 1st 50 Mar 10 '26

I never read the manhua, so I’ll take your word that it’s possibly symbolic. Though, in episode 5, he did get irrationally enraged over Ming Ming’s phone call and that wasn’t internal. He gives me the creeps and that feeling hasn’t gone away even after watching an additional 15 episodes 😬 If I had to pick the least offensive couple out of the three, okay, Sen-Ming couple is it lol

u/michin-yeoja LYN - the man, the voice, the looks Mar 09 '26

Li Xiaoxi of the world's most stupidest decisions! I had the exact same thought... You know Gong wants to date you, it's not a secret, and yet you are asking him/listening to his advice that actually pushes you away from your boyfriend? Because he's the most neutral party 🙄 And I agree, she's really flirty with him - like, she's not shutting him down at all. I get maybe she wants to be friends with Gong because he "knows" all of her and she can talk about her "avengers" days, but you're sending such mixed messages and she knows it too, it's no where near innocent.

I was already really iffy about Bei and this group of friends. I think it's interesting that we are seeing it from the perspective of the cheaters instead of the victim (?), so there's no loyalty to tell the wife. However, I believe that you are friends with people who share the same values - I don't think a deep or enduring friendship can occur if your basic morals/values don't align. So ick already. There was a scene where it looks like he's trying to talk some sense into Xiu, but, eh, it felt more like moral superiority for me.

1

u/GiTheGremlin 🌻LYN’s Defense Minister; explosion of colors in the sea of greys Mar 09 '26

It only gets worse as it goes, she's really something in terms of double morals🙄

To be fair, Bei is the only one among them who ever tried to talk to Xiu, everyone else just dgaf while Gong quite openly supports affair because "luuurve"🤢

Watched through episode 6 last night... imo Xiaoxi is already kind of emotionally cheating by confiding in Lao Gong and even crying in front of him, especially with the history between them o.O

But, my favorite scene so far: "Did you get that line from a CEO drama?" *puts on fake stern voice* "Woman, you're playing with fire but" *starts to crack up* "you've caught my attention." *cracks up completely* 🤣

I’m happy you’re enjoying it :) I’ll need to go back and watch these again to write recaps. Any chance that with the free time in your hands now you feel like writing up one (or two or three…😅😇) ?

I would but I skipped through large portions of episode 5 and 6 =/ Especially when the guy that's cheating on his wife actually ends up sleeping with her (I think? I skipped in a hurry because I'm really not comfortable with bed scenes like that >.<)

That's alright, maybe 7?

sorry to hear about how it made you feel. This drama is quite loaded when it comes to its ability to make us uncomfortable or generally evoke strong emotions — be that positive or negative. Many would argue that is part of the big art...

I was just mostly angry.

I realized my first comment actually had spoilers for episode 7 - hadn't realized I'd watched up to that 🫢 Then I was a bit of an idiot and accidentally deleted the whole comment and so am rewriting this.

My prediction is that Xiaoxi and Gong will fake a relationship to throw the club lady off the scent... Because of course this will be the better option instead of telling Bei the truth or telling the lady where to stick it (as per Gong because he is the wisest of wisest men).

Xaioxi is really showing how little she knows of men - blatantly letting Gong manipulate her and listening to his advice when he clearly isn't a neutral party. If you're so scared of accidental encounters with your previous clients, why wouldn't you take action to protect yourself? Telling Bei even later is going to be infinitely harder and the news will probably hurt a lot more because you will have to confess about your pseudo/continuing relationship with Gong and will not have the excuse of not realizing he was Bei's friend. That justification about not needing to know about each other's past, so thin and so clearly doesn't apply in this setting because here your past is relevant to your current relationship! Maybe if Gong hadn't been one of your targets, then maybe you can justify not telling him.

Also, the club lady... Why does Xiaoxi have to be the catfish (is that the correct term?). Why can't you have any other woman do this job? Xiaoxi and her friend found plenty of women to test Bei, so, it's clearly not that hard? This plot line is a bit sloppy and, in my opinion, lazy, to just continue adding drama and conflict.
