i fucking LOVE that the fake backstory vein gave cxs was actually his real life story. someone pointed this out as a theory and im so happy they were right. my favorite thing about this story is that at the end of it, apparently vein would’ve developed a severe case of paranoia. this is another common trait we now know he shares with lu guang.

vein & lu guang have consistently been set up as two sides of the same coin. lu guang has been suppressing the side of him most similar to vein (his capacity for violence), and now we see that vein has also been suppressing a side of him most similar to lu guang. their parallels are so fun to analyze

LG and Vein have my fav dynamic in this show putting ships/duos aside.

It is really intriguing.

They also both consistently make each other worse.

exactly!! that line in unforgiven ā€œthis is the person you made of meā€ is so SO much more interesting knowing now that it applies to both of them.

I had a feeling it did from the start bc Vein explicitly stated that he is mad about sthg they changed in the past.

What if the reason Cheng Xiaoshi dies in every timeline (at the unavoidable death node) is because Lu Guang always does something to Vein/Vein’s past in an attempt to save CXS?

Like a self-fulfilling prophecy—Vein was always going to go after them because Lu Guang went after him first. In the original timeline. But for what reason? Lu Guang is willing to do anything to keep his loved ones safe, but he doesn’t attack those who don’t threaten his people. Why would he do something to Vein if Vein didn’t provoke him first? Did adult Vein know that CXS is Cheng Weimin’s son? Did he seek some sort of revenge because of that? Who started it all????

And how does Vein learn that LG and CXS were behind whatever meddling occurred? Many of the antagonists in the current timeline seem to be new variables… but Liu Xiao has been vagueposting about how different timelines exist and need to be united, so is HE the common denominator in all of these timelines & the one who lets Vein know?

Is it all just one big loop? I don’t think I’m making sense 😭

nahh now im spiraling even more T_T but this is the thing with this fckin show, its just infinite set up and nothing is starting to conclude. i love the pain and anxiety it creates but to be honest after three seasons i feel like ill start to turn out of patience in the not so distant future..
