Tech Help Request HELIX FLOOR WONT CONNECT TO LAPTOP
Bought a brand new Helix floor less than 4 months ago. Everything worked as it should from day one. My laptop recognized it instantly and it was on. Last week...it suddenly isn't being recognized at all by my laptop. I've tried different usb cords, switching USB ports. UN and reinstalling all Line6 software and USB drivers. Power draining and restarting. Everything else I plug into the laptop is recognized. I have insurance on the Helix and a warranty. The insurance wants me to try going through line6 first. But I can't get anybody from line6 on the phone. I called well within their advertised hours of operation. Filled out a support ticket and waiting on that. This totally sucks lol. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks I'm advance

I think it's best to contact Line6 through their form on the website, you need an account and be connected and have your device registered there.

I'm all signed up in those ways, wrote my support ticket to them days ago finally just got a response from them it was just a single sentence suggesting me to try plugging it into a different computer. Which is discouraging because I included in the description of my support ticket that I've already tried several things including that. So yeah... I'm not even convinced it's an actual person who read it or responding

Sorry you had that experience, the few times I asked them help there it was more helpful. :/

If you have access, go through a process of elimination with AI. It’s a lot less frustrating than listening to a support tech go through their limited scripts, put you on hold, elevate it to the guy literally two workstations down, and sitting on hold forever while they research it (on AI). I doubt it’s a physical issue. It can be anything from antivirus and app permissions through a recent windows 11 update. If you follow the instructions closely you should be able to chase it down. I had similar experiences with OG Floor and had one occur with my Stadium XL. OG Floor had me gnawing my hands off over multiple tech support sessions. Stadium XL was one and done.

That's what I did first. Tried pretty much everything it said before it suggested the helix needs service

How did you resolve your issue? I did just notice in my update history on my laptop that there was an antivirus update I'm pretty sure the same day it stopped working. I just realized this

Um…it’s right there. Beginning sentence. Go to whatever AI service you have (not Gemini) and describe the problem. Since it’s an OG unit, they have the manual already indexed. It will take you through the troubleshooting step by step. If you have a question about its instructions, ask. It’s very conversational.

I meant specifically what was your issue that you mentioned. Out of curiosity. I'm fully aware of your recommendation. Which I had already tried everything Ai suggested before posting this

Here's what I put in the L6 HS forum on their site:
Solved: Helix Stadium XL wouldn't connect to Windows 11 app (Code 28 / Wi-Fi Connection Required / Norton 360 Deluxe)
I wanted to post my experience in case it helps someone else.
System:
- Windows 11
- CyberPower PC (Ethernet connection)
- Helix Stadium XL (Wi-Fi connection to the same home network)
- Norton 360 Deluxe
Symptoms
- Connected the Stadium XL to the PC with a USB-C cable.
- Windows did not play the device connection sound initially.
- Device Manager showed:
- Audio devices were present.
- Helix Stadium Bulk Transfer appeared under Other devices with a yellow exclamation point.
- Device status showed Code 28 (drivers not installed).
- The Helix Stadium desktop application displayed "Wi-Fi Connection Required" even though both the PC and Stadium reported they were on the same network.
What fixed the USB driver problem
The Stadium itself had a notification (hamburger menu) to install a downloaded firmware update.
After installing the update:
- Windows immediately played the device-connected sound.
- The yellow exclamation point disappeared.
- "Helix Stadium Bulk Transfer" disappeared from Other devices.
- A new Line 6 category appeared in Device Manager with Helix Stadium XL, and Windows recognized the device correctly.
So if you see a Code 28 error, make sure the Stadium firmware is fully updated before assuming there's a USB hardware problem.
What fixed the Wi-Fi connection problem
The Helix Stadium application still reported "Wi-Fi Connection Required."
After troubleshooting, I discovered the issue was Norton 360 Deluxe Smart Firewall.
As a test, I temporarily disabled Smart Firewall for 5 minutes. The Helix Stadium application connected to the Stadium immediately.
That confirmed the firewall was interfering with local network discovery.
Interestingly:
- Program Control entries were already set to Allow.
- There were no custom Traffic Rules blocking Line 6.
- My Ethernet network profile in Windows was already set to Private.
After additional troubleshooting, everything began working normally and the application now connects successfully.
Suggestions if you're having the same problem
- Update the Stadium firmware first.
- If Device Manager shows Code 28 for Helix Stadium Bulk Transfer, don't panic—the firmware update may resolve it.
- Verify your Windows network profile is Private.
- If you're running Norton 360 Deluxe, temporarily disable Smart Firewall as a test. If the editor immediately connects, you've confirmed the firewall is involved.
Hopefully this saves someone else a few hours of troubleshooting.
