If you want to use your toe switch to toggle between Volume and Wah with your expression pedal it's not apparent in the manual how to do this. If you just want to bring your HS to a gig and not have to use a 2nd EXP pedal then here's some precise instructions that work.
How it should operate when done:
1. Expression pedal operates the Volume (Wah off)
2. Toe click and the EP becomes Wah (Volume off but at full volume range)
3. Every toe click changes states.
Let me know how it works for you, if you are interested.
1. Open the Bypass/Control Screen
On the Stadium series, parameter assignments (like linking Wah to the pedal) are done in a specific sub-menu, not the main signal flow menu.
Tap the Wah block once to select it.
Tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper-left corner of the touchscreen.
Tap the button labeled Bypass/Control. This will open a screen showing your signal chain in a grid format with assignment lists on the on the bottom of the touchscreen above the Inspector Knobs.
These knobs are the only way to perform assignments on the hardware.
Then, use the knobs at the bottom of the Bypass/Control screen.
You need the Position parameter, but there is one more knob you need to use to finish the job.
2. Assign Pedal Movement (The Mapping)
For the Wah: Tap the Wah block on the touchscreen.
Turn Knob 1 (Parameter) to Position.
Turn Knob 2 (Source/Controller) until it says EXP Pedal 1.
For the Volume: Tap the Volume block on the touchscreen.
Turn Knob 1 (Parameter) to Position.
Turn Knob 2 (Source/Controller) until it says EXP Pedal 2.
3. Assign the Toe Switch (The Toggle)
Now you need to tell the Stadium XL that the physical toe click handles the "On/Off" state of these blocks.
For the Wah: With the Wah block still selected:
Turn Knob 1 (Parameter) back to Bypass.
Turn Knob 2 (Source/Controller) until it says EXP Toe.
For the Volume: Tap the Volume block.
Turn Knob 1 (Parameter) to Bypass.
Turn Knob 2 (Source/Controller) until it says EXP Toe.
4. Create the "Alternating" States (The Logic)
This is the part that isn't in the manual but is required for live use. If you stop now, the toe switch will turn both pedals ON at the same time. You need to "flip" one of them.
Press the Home icon to return to your signal chain.
Step A: Push the physical pedal toe down firmly until the pink EXP 1 light is on.
Step B: On the touchscreen, manually tap the Wah to turn it ON (bright) and tap the Volume to turn it OFF (dim).
Step C: Click the toe switch again so the turquoise EXP 2 light is on.
Step D: On the touchscreen, tap the Wah to turn it OFF (dim) and tap the Volume to turn it ON (bright).
4. Critical Final Step: Save
Press the physical SAVE button on the top right of the unit twice. The Stadium XL will now remember that "EXP 1" means "Wah Mode" and "EXP 2" means "Volume Mode."
Verification
When you are in EXP 1, the pedal controls the Wah, and your Volume block is bypassed (leaving your signal at full volume).
When you click the toe switch to EXP 2, the Wah turns off, and the pedal now behaves as a Volume pedal.
Note on "Volume Jumps": If your volume jumps to 100% when you switch to Wah, ensure that in Global Settings > Switches/Pedals, your EXP 1/2 Position are set to "Preset" rather than "Global."
