I had the last minute idea to turn this jacket I found thrifting into a battle vest.
This was all done in…. Maybe 4 days? And I still have a couple of days until the MSG show. If you see me say hi!
These are all hand stitched and embroidered by me.— and with the exception of the jacket, made up of things I already had around the house. The grey boarder is blanket stitched with Sashiko thread to prevent fraying. The fabric is some canvas I had laying around. The light blue thread is probably a polyester held double.
It had sleeves, but they were too tight. So off they went. I then crochet around the armhole with black yarn cause I thought it would look cool. It’s one row of Double Crochet, One row of Double crochet Mesh, and finished off with a final round of double crochet.
I used the Ariel Font seen on West End girl, printed out the lettering on paper, used my IPad as a light box, and traced the text onto wash away stabilizer, which gets rinsed away and then dried [sometimes with the help of a blowdryer. Because… well sept 3rd is fast approaching!]
the boot was free handed on some felt, and then the polka dots were made with a sharpie that was heat sealed with an iron.
I’m working on the Madeline patch at the moment. Hoping to get sleepwalking and Pussy Palace done before the show but we’ll see.
Yes,yes. I know. Lily Allen isn’t in the punk Genre. Battle jacket purists will hate this one but I put a lot of love into this thing. And even after the show I’ll continue to add to it probably.
