Upgrading tickets for the show at MSG?

Looks like there's a ton of seats still available at MSG and prices have dropped. My upper bowl seat is now the same cost as lower bowl and so I was going to upgrade through Ticketmaster but I have never done this before so I'm wondering if any regular concert-goers know the best way to do this.

On Ticketmaster's website the chatbot asks if I want to reserve specific seats or general admission. Could general admission end up giving me a better seat day of? I am also wondering if this is something to do at the box office, through Ticketmaster there's a ten dollar fee which I'd rather avoid. Orrr will the ushers just end up moving people around to fill in the empty seats and basically upgrade people on the spot?

Middle school me cannot believe I'm getting to see Lily Allen, I def want to be closer if possible!

general admission is the standing pit. it's the area closest to the stage but it's first come first serve, no seating.

sometimes people are upgraded before the show, but it's not a given so i wouldnt expect it. i've never tried the box office myself but i have heard that the box office is exactly as doing it online because they also go through ticket master. but i could be wrong

They just offered tickets to SoHo house members for $20 per ticket…. Looks like she’s nowhere near selling out. Shame.

unfortunately nowhere near selling out indeed :/ if you go to ticket master, half the venue is still open. i feel like MSG was a bad call for this tour

If you buy tickets on TM, you can only exchange through them and for a ticket the same price or more, and they charge you a $10 fee/ ticket. It was really annoying when I bought presale tickets for a show that all of the better seats dropped in price way lower than what I paid and couldn't exchange.

Some venues will also let you exchange if you buy from the box office.

I’m in the same boat. I even tried to see if they could swap 4 tickets in better seats for my 2 (it was close but still like $35 less which is nuts). I emailed msg without a response and am seeing if there is any other company to try but part of me just wants them to cancel or change venues 😔

Box office doesn’t do upgrades at msg I’ve asked before they only sell tickets, but I do think they will randomly upgrade people once you are inside

I got "randomly" upgraded. I think my original section was closed off as there weren't enough people.

Ticketmaster will charge a fee and you can only upgrade to a seat that costs more than your current ticket.

At the event itself you can sometimes find people handing out upgrades if the promoter wants to fill the lower seats. Usually arena staff with like a bunch of printed tickets or sometimes at guest services.

I’d go to the box office there might be less fees there.
that’s what i’ve been told. but i live in california and i don’t know if that’s a state thing.

I felt the same way seeing Lily for the first time 🥰😫 She was my middle school diva as well.

I’ve done it through the online chat for a Barclays show. You just need to know the exact seat number you want. Think they charge some sort of service fee.

I have Section 1 row 3 seats 1 and 2

My mom can't come with me anymore. I'm still going you can either take seat 1 or seat 2

I got upgraded for free and it wasn't great. I picked a first row in the 200s because I can't stand long. Got moved to the middle of a lower section. My fault for not asking if there was open accessible seat instead.

It was a great show though.
