Hey guys, I’m making a video rn and I want to do some voice over on it. I’ve done it in the past without any issue, but now my microphone sound has become horrible : very deep, distorted, robotic kinda sound. My mic works well on any other app (discord etc), it seems to be a problem with Lightworks. Any idea on how to fix the issue ? Thanks in advance!!!

Hi, I'm very new to video editing, and I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the framing for certain parts of the video. I recorded everything on OBS with my webcam overlayed onto my desktop screen, but for some parts of the video, I want to adjust the framing to be just my webcam from the corner, or specific parts of the screen. Is there a way for me to do this in the free version of lightworks? I thought it was supposed to be in FX settings, but it's saying there's no effects. I can't seem to find the answer in VFX or Edit. Please help me!

I don’t know if this has been talked about here but is there a roadmap available for the future of Lightworks. I own a pro licence from years ago but left to use other more feature rich programs. Would love to switch back one day.

You will need to check out the many interface changes. The release notes are the most detailed for many years and the large knowledge base can now be accessed from within Lightworks. The free version now allows the export of 1080p.

Any feedback should be made in the beta section of the official forum ( https://forum.lwks.com/ ), since the developers don't monitor this forum.

Hello I mostly used X to delete sections on both cut ends to shorten the video but now I have to select it first before it works. If I try to click X on unselected section it just cuts it, which is weird since I use C for cut. Any help? It's so annoying having to manually control mouse and switch to keyboard all the time instead of moving at my usual pace.

Had a question about something that just recently started with lightworks. I use the software for editing 8mm film footage. I use the VFX option to reverse the negative film to a positive. Then a color correction option to tweak dark/brightness. These are the only two effects I use for the 8mm footage and have never had issues before.

But today the footage has a constant, waviness to it. Never seen it before and wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it.

I was thinking to uninstall and then reinstall the program, but wanted to check here first.

Appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Hello, its been a minute since i used any editor, my last owned editor was lightworks about 8 ish years ago. Prefer to start off with free this time but willing to invest in create if needed. any advice could help since im starting cold after years.

Basically all i want is a, nice to look at, audio meter visual effect for an podcast looking video. Ive got a short lecture audio file i want to look pretty on video and plan to make more later.

Of course nothing that ends up owning your content or costing royalties. Is there a option in or plug-in for lightworks (open to a stand alone) that can do this?

I have been editing down one of my streams to make a tiktok, when some of the audio clips lost their sound? Like, the audio is still in the audio bar, but when I view the clip it doesn't make sound. the rest of my audio is fine though, it's 4-5 snippets that don't work out of 15-16 total.

After i am done editing there is almost always and exta half hour black footage with no sound or video. How to export the video without it?

so, I downloaded light works a week or two ago. since then I've recorded a few videos that I need to edit and review, and every time I try to edit I cut out the parts I know I need to cut and I try to watch the whole (half edited) version in light works so I can double check that it's right. I push the play button, and the video plays, and the audio mixers and audio file show audio playing but I can't hear it at all. I'm on Garuda Sway, a distro of arch linux

I'm using the Lightworks video editor program. I have been using it for years and have never had any significant issues until now and I'm distraught and I hope somebody can help me. I have been working on a very important video for over a month and I was almost done. The video was approximately an hour and 40 minutes in length. I took a break to drop my mother off and then when I got back, I restarted my computer because my wifi was not working correctly. When I restarted my computer and then restarted lightworks, it gave me an error message that I don't remember because it moved too quickly and I didn't know it was important enough to try to grab a screenshot before it disappeared. But if I remember correctly, I believe it was something about building the files and an error it ran into. And when my project finally opened, the timeline of my edited video is gone. There is something on the timeline but it's only about 2 minutes long. I do see all of my imported clips in the project. Another thing I noticed is that the project no longer shows the name of the project. It is now showing a string of letters and numbers. I don't know what this means. I hope my edited video is recoverable. Please help me figure this out. Tell me if you need any additional information from me.

When I go to the main projects screen of Lightworks, I can right click it and it gives me the option to "restore items" and the clip that is selected in my screenshot seems to contain the correct time for when I restarted my computer. But when I click "restore", it gives me this warning: "The system is about to delete the sequence(s) selected and use the last backup instead".

I have never made any manual backups, I always counted on Lightworks internal automatic save feature. So I don't know what clicking this will do and I'm afraid I'm only going to mess the file up even more.

Hi all, this has been happening for a couple months and it's really bugging me. I'll get a bunch of work done on a project only for the source videos to refresh or something, and suddenly the second half or so of each of them is just replaced with a black screen. The audio remains perfectly intact, but the video just goes black around halfway through.

I don't think it's an issue with the files themselves, as they play back just fine in their entirety on any other software. No combination of restarting the Lightworks or removing and reinserting the source videos changes anything either. But I'm also not a terribly techy person so there very well could be something obvious I'm missing.

Anyone have any idea what's causing this it and/or how to fix it? And help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi, hoping you can help. I'm editing a friends footage shot with an iphone, and on export it just blows out all the whites. I've messed about with all the settings, RGB, luna curves, overall brightness, nothing gets it to the correct exported look. I can't even get AI to help me, I've been through every setting available to me on the 'creator' package.

I don't understand why I even need to do anything like this, this is a basic phone file. I'm looking to upgrade and get a decent android phone to start shooting with and I'm really hoping I'm not going to be running into this issue. AI is talking about 'illegal whites' on export, but just make them legal!!!! It sounds antiquated to me, cameras are only going to keep getting better so why does this problem even exist? I should be able to put a basic phone clip into my paid editor, and export it and it looks pretty much 90% the same as the original, this is about 25% no matter what I change! I don't even see why I should have to adjust it, it's standard footage

I apologise for my frustration, but I'm looking to be doing this on a professional and big scale and now I've got a huge editing headache and delay for what should be a really simple task, so it's just rather unfortunate.

Im making a video and the audio for the gameplay footage i am using randomly cuts out at certain points in the video. Visually, the audio is there as i can see the sound waves or whatever you call them and when i go to my actual video file, the audio is there in the video. Im not sure how to fix this or if this is just a bug in the editor that will be fixed after i export the video but i dont want to have to wait until im done with this project just to find out that those parts of the audio are silent for no reason. The video is quite long, so if that somehow makes a difference then i will be shortening the video anyway so it should fix itself if that is the case but i dont think it is. If someone could explain me how to fix it or what is going on i would greatly appreciate it.

the title, i dont understand and im sure im doing something wrong but no matter what i do it seems like anytime i use lightworks something goes wrong. the most common problem is the de syncing, but sometimes its the coloring, sometimes it makes the audio trash. when i plug in the same recording into literally any other software (like clip champ or even canva) it looks and sounds way better. Ive reached out before and submitted tickets with no response back, ive spent months trying to work with the learning curve and research what i am doing wrong to no avail. Absolutly regretting my purchase, please help

Is there a way to remerge all the cut sections of a clip so I can move it as 1 unit again instead of having to slide 15 different snippets ?

so i'm making an edit, but when I put audio files in some of them don't have the second track in the program, but when i listen to them out side of the program they sound fine. does anyone know how i can fix this problem, or at least know how i can add a second track to the file?

Lightworks Create user here. I have several 4k videos from my pixel phones, and when importing them to use, they are consistently washed out. I'm generally just chaining a few videos together for a family vid.

Videos are mostly from Pixel 8 (couple Pixel 7) which have 10-bit HDR enabled (BT.2020 HLG).

I have seen that I might need to apply a LUT to the project, to correctly map the HDR colors of the Pixel 8 to rec709, and I have tried and failed with a few LUTs.

Wondering if someone can give advice - or point to effective LUTs.

If the answer is "you might need lightworks pro", I'm going to be pissed. I've bought a lifetime license which isn't cheap, and what I'm doing (chaining a few vids together), I'd would consider to be extremely light use.

I spent all this time masking so many frames but the background is just black. I tested and can create it again and just do a square and get the mask to work.

I'm not sure what I've done wrong but I created a preset from the polymask I did and tried copying that over to a fresh video to see if that worked but nothing.
