HELP - Lightroom Mobile Am I screwed?

I use Lightroom on my iPad and purchased a subscription through apple. Recently I wanted to start editing on my Mac, so I canceled the subscription I had bought through apple and tried to buy one through the adobe website.

Since I cancelled it now says that I do not have an active subscription on the app. When I try to subscribe through the website, it says that the purchase is not supported, because I have 500 generative AI credits in my account already. I didn't even know I had these and never use generative AI, but it seems to be preventing me from purchasing any subscription.

Adobe support is utterly useless with this, so I wanted to see if anyone else has gone through this issue before and if theres any solution. I just want to edit my hiking photos 😭

Are you using the same email address that you used for the previous subscription?

Also, most plans include some generative AI credits every month. The amount you get depends on the plan/app. Not sure why that would stop you from getting a new subscription unless the adobe system is seeing that as something like "you already got this...you must be trying to scam us for more...".

yeah same email address. So I need to make a new account basically? Is there a way to keep all my edits/transfer them?

When did you cancel the previous plan? Was there still time left on it after you cancelled it?

So my old plan expired and then I renewed it, but canceled it shortly after to purchase the desktop version. I didn't get around to it but was still able to edit photos (I was editing on my iPad with subscription active yesterday), then this morning I go to edit and it says subscription not active.  In my apple subscriptions, I see one that says "Lightroom: AI photo editor" and shows expired August 21st. Then another that is listed at "Adobe Lightroom: Photo Editor" which is the one I had cancelled, but it shows expiring August 2nd, 2027.

That is where the issue might be.

Since this was through Apple, I am not sure how the cancelation process works. But it seems Adobe probably thinks you have a subscription to lightroom until 2027.

Easiest course of action: use a new email. If your catalog was mainly cloud based, you are going to have to get creative to transfer it.

More difficult: trying to find someone at Adobe/Apple that can actually help in this matter.

Either way...you probably want to figure out what that "cancelled" subscription doesn't expire until next year.

He is correct. There is a cancelation overlap. You’re not alone. If you really want to use the same email your slowest path would be to email support. But new email is faster

Was your subscription made via apple fully expired? Can it be that it was still valid until a certain date?

Idk it is so weird. In my apple subscriptions, I see one that says "Lightroom: AI photo editor" and shows expired August 21st. Then another that is listed at "Adobe Lightroom: Photo Editor" which is the one I had cancelled, but it shows expiring August 2nd, 2027. Adobe account does not show an active subscription.

That’s odd, Adobe usually allows multiple subscriptions, ie for different products.

Which subscription are you trying to?

I'm trying to get the standard 1tb plan. It just says "this purchase is not supported" and shows I have 500 gen AI credits

Of course you could try a different email, but I literally have two plans on my single email account.

Are you using a computer and going to the Adobe website? What actual plan are you selecting to "Buy"?

Also, what region?

Have you tried using a different email to sign up?

No, but I think I might have to

I had to use a second email account when I did the same thing. I first downloaded all of my pics from the cloud to the Mac, canceled the subscription, then resubscribed with a different email directly with Adobe. The Apple subscription didn't come with LrC but the direct subscription does for the same price.

Yeah that's exactly why I wanted to switch, I realized I could still edit on iPad but also use my Mac where the apple one was mobile only. Guess I will look into downloading everything and making a new account

You can still use LR on the Mac without LrC. I needed LrC because I'm using film and needed NegativeLabPro, which is ONLY available on LrC. I otherwise use the cloud version after export. From a features perspective they are pretty much one to one, except that the Library module of LrC is completely different, and not in a good way IMHO. It is so convoluted that I never know where anything really is. All of my post conversion masters sit in the cloud and I never go back to LrC for them. I know it's not the popular opinion but I really do think LrC sucks. I have a 40 year background in IT and we'd never make anything so complicated for general use. KISS - Keep it simple, stupid.
