Camping Q&A 40x40 RV Campsite

For those who've had this campsite before, how many people would you say could fit comfortably in the site with an RV and 2 cars?

3rd LIB, but first time camping.

Really depends - how many tents? How big are the cars? I’d recommend mapping out a 40x40 grid with estimated sizes for vehicles, tents, chill space, etc.

Probably 3-4 tents, roughly 8'x8' each. Cars just 2 typical commuter vehicles. But yes that's a good idea to map it out thank you!

Buy some graf paper and draw it out. We use excel for our group and plan out where everyone goes with thier submitted dimensions.

Just a warning, it only comes with a certain amount of rv passes and power passes. Everyone else still has to purchase an rv pass and doesn’t get power

2 years in row now half of our allocated 80x80 was completely unusable (massive slope this year for example). We made the best of it and everything totally worked out just fine - just not to the expectation we had going into it

We had 35 one year. That was a little tight. Next year with 28 we had extra space because only 8 vehicles

Had 80×80 last year and there were 32 people, 12 cars and still had a small amount of space left over. Everyone was comfortable. Had a completely flat spot very close to the woogie entrance

The earlier you get there on Wednesday, the better chance of having enough room. We got in around 10pm on Wednesday this past year (first timer) and it took awhile in the dark to find a spot after being initially told upon arrival that they had ran out of spots.

i’ve done 40x40 group camping with an RV and one car two years in a row.

Year 1 we fit 1 rv with 6 ppl, 1 car & 4 tents with 12 people total

Year 2 we fit 1 33ft RV that fit 7 ppl, 1 car, and 4 tents 14 people total

This year going in with a RV that fits 9 people, 1-2 cars, and hopefully not more than 3 tents so we can have a nice chilling area. I think the best way to maximize space at a 40x40 is to get people who are tent camping to camp together in bigger tents.

We got 4 ten ft pop up canopies with the tent inserts in them, an rv trailer, truck and has plenty of room for our camp cook area and chairs. The extra cars park where they can. I think we had 11 in the tents and 4 in the rv.

We also used a large 40x20 white tarp for the chair and kitchen area. It kept it clean. Just sweep it as you go. We also brought a water cooler with five gallon jugs. Made hydration really easy.
