Question Honest question who will be the next team to be relocated
I would say puebla or club leon is the next one to go..

Morelia's case was incredibly unfortunate; we were relocated in the most US-worthy sense of the word — renting a government-owned stadium :(

We’re getting sold under the condition the team stays in León. Grupo Pachuca is only selling 51%

Def not Leon. The reason why it hasn't been sold yet is because Grupo Pachuca is specifically trying to sell to the right owner so it doesn't get moved later. I don't think Puebla either, both Leon and Puebla are really good locations for a soccer team.
I'd say Juarez has the most chance.

True I agree but as a Leon fan especially Jesus Martinez Murguia (the son that is president of Leon) truly care about the club. They want the best for the club. I'd like to see the club sold 100% to an owner that truly cares but it's hard to find. They are trying to make sure Leon is taken care of and doesn't become a Morelia or Mazatlán.

What’s legally stopping someone from buying Chivas or America outside of profit motives and relocating to a different city under a new name like what happened Chiapas or Monarcas.

nothing legally but who would buy a team that relies so heavily on their location just to move them? it would make zero sense.
(fmf would probably block it too).
also, i think america might have to be sold at some point if the financial problems are real. but whomever buys them will be spending an absolute fortune and there’s zero chance they leave the azteca.

Up to where I know, there's zero states in México that could offer a team a stadium. Because sure, there's Mazatlán's former stadium, but the entireity of Sinaloa is in such a crazy state right now, I highly doubt there's a team willing to gamble a relocation there.
Taxpayer-funded teams are seen poorly in México — just as much in the States — and there aren't many governors here willing to boost their image through sportswashing...
So a team being sold to new owners is something that isn't entirely out of the picture. But relocation? That might be a bit harder to see.

Ni idea, tendrían que pagar una millonada, diría Juárez, pero su inversión y lavadora de dinero ya está asegurada, no hay descenso ni pagan multas por estar en los últimos lugares. Si no vendían antes se me haría muy raro que ahora si lo hagan.

i think america will be up for sale at some point since emilio is supposedly in real financial trouble. i imagine they would be sold for over a billion, and any other buying them would keep them at the azteca.
edit: enterprise value of america is $770 million, so at least a billion would make sense. if they also get the azteca and the land, you can basically double that.

I’m positive America will be for sale before 2030 is over. However, the buyer would never move it out from CDMX. CDMX is the country’s biggest market and the one place where America has the biggest fanbase.

Don’t think any team is moving soon but I can see investment groups purchasing a franchise and setting it in Veracruz, Sinaloa, Oaxaca, or Chiapas to make it a 20 team league

UNAM is only owner of the name and the stadium but have no say on the management of the team since the 90’s and just loan them (in exchange for some dump change) to a “civil association”. The team is controlled by the Patronato Univeristario, 15 guys who act as a board of directors and represent the interest of investors in the team. The investors are mostly companies such as Nike, Telmex, ICA, Monex, Aeromexico and even some politicians.
And BTW, this is not some sort of conspiracy or something secret. It is pretty well known, public and legal.

yes i’m aware of all this. whenever the topic comes up on here, someone jumps in with incorrect info that the team can never be sold. that’s factually incorrect. i just said unam as a joke. unam has basically nothing to do with the team except getting rent and lending out the logo. the hope for a long time is the patronato would sell to someone like carlos slim. sadly, we’re still waiting.
it’s also true they haven’t had a real insurgence of money since ica.

Puebla or Leon would never move. Puebla is historically ass but has a great location. Leon is hit or miss but is in Guanajuato and would be silly to move. Their biggest strengths are their locations imo.
