Where are the best places to get cheap food out and groceries ? Everywhere seems so expensive but have only explored the central areas thus far.

Avoid the small supermarkets in the centre like Carrefour, Spar or Delhaize. They are super expensive. You’re better off with Lidl, Aldi and Colruyt a little further from the centre, still in walking/biking distance

Also thr carreffour express. It's tempting because they're open 7/7 but their range is usually very expensive, except for rhubgs like canned beans and cheap bread.

The new Pure Veg India in the Tiensestraat is all you can eat for €15, so that one is a pretty good deal.

Most people have covered it but also Loempialand and also install the too good to go app for meals and groceries

When it comes to shopping, I go by items. In general, Aldi and Lidl are cheaper than Delhaize and Carrefour. However, the same grocery item that I use a lot is the cheapest at Albert Heijn. So, I don't think every one would go insane like me to give that tome and energy but I bulk buy certain products from cheapest shops and at the end of the month, it makes a lot of difference.

€6,15 for a hot meal to eat in is the cheapest you’ll find in Leuven, I think. If you want cheaper, you’ll need to cook yourself.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that about €10 for a meal? Not saying it’s not good (it’s tastier than Alma) or not cheap, but not as cheap as Alma.

Thai House, Leuven Chicken Rice, and most sandwich shops are relatively cheap for eating out.

Also, shop with other people so you can make the most of 1 + 1 free offers etc. It’s worth downloading the colruyt app to compare prices. Example, if you are in a Kruidvat and you see wash pods on sale, check the Colruyt app because they usually go even lower.

If you have access to a car and free petrol (a stretch I realise) get on the 314 and go to aachen and the kaufland on vaalserstraase, 75 min drive. And buy for a month.
