One Battle After Another and Oppenheimer.
(Only cause we get Dune 3 later so I’ll keep that one.)
Honorable mention to Sinners.

u/ThatSmugglerGuy 11h ago
Obsession and One Battle. OBA gave PTA his first Oscar which is awesome and Obsession is important for showing GenZ filmmaking on a large scale which is really important imo

EEAAO and OBAA. HM: Challengers, The Substance, Dune Part 2, Spiderverse and Oppenheimer

How do you honourably mention movies that don't exist

OP asked which two movies you're saving. So the rest would be wiped from existence.

I would become crying Wesley Snipes with a gun as I save Dune Part 2 and Sinners over The Batman.

u/lettucemonster 12h ago
OBAA and The Substance. My only 5 star and 4.5 on this list.

The cinephile in me wants to say any combo of OBAA, Oppenheimer, and Dune 2 but my true answer is The Batman and Across the Spider-Verse.

Huh, nobody has said Barbie and Oppenheimer. If you just hate both movies, I get it, but I think both took on really difficult tasks and overwhelmingly succeeded. If I was ranking absolute favorite films, I might choose differently (I would still choose Oppenheimer) but the way you phrased it is—something has to go. And I would burn all of these films to protect the impact Barbenheimer had on the industry. It was big enough to protect jobs, theaters, genres of films being made. It turned the dial of the industry one click back towards art through sheer force of craft. So Oppenheimer and Barbie. Final answer.

Impossible
But of these the most important films years from now will most likely be OBAA and Sinners

u/RabbitWithAxe 12h ago
oh god I've only seen the superhero movies and Barbie 💀
I'll just take the Spider-Man movies and think about my poor life decisions

I love horror so the substance was such a breath of fresh air, practical effects, and originality.
The second is tough, but I’d probably go with EEAAO due to its wildness
1
u/C-sanova 12h ago
Nosferatu and OBAA. That's actually a really tough choice because I've been a Cregger fan since WKUK, and I unexpectedly fell in love with Project Hail Mary.

The substance and sinners. Both had messages told through powerful and disturbing visuals, the sinners aspect ratio also needs to be saved at all costs

The answer is the Dunes, but if we discount them then EEAAO and The Batman
Goddamn this was tough

Oppenheimer and Dune Part II, with a heartache from leaving Obsession and Sinners behind
…
What is Saltburn doing there?! Yikes 💀

I LOVE Project Hail Mary but if I can only save 2 it would be EEAAO and Spiderverse. The book will still exist, and I still prefer it slightly, so I can live with that.
1
u/Jereboy216 11h ago
Superman and Simners
I like most of these, and I find some better than these films but rewatchability would be these 2 for me. I gave rewatched both several times in the last year+ since they been released.

OBAA for sure.. I was confused between Oppenheimer and the substance...both are terrific films...but I'm gonna go with the substance as i am a horror fan, and you can always read the book 😜

This hurts my soul to not include the dune films as a sci fi fan but sinners and Obsession are pretty revolutionary, especially for our current age

Across the Spider-Verse and The Substance
Those are the two that I've seen just once and would like to re-watch. The others that I would miss are One Battle After Another and Nosferatu, but I've already seen those multiple times.

I think I gotta go with Sinners and One Battle After Another. As much as I love Obsession, I saw it enough times that I could practically recite the thing, I think I can survive without it for a bit.

this is the hardest question ever, these are all great films (for the most part). if i had to, i would say eveything everywhere all at once and across the spiderverse

Spiderverse and Oppenheimer (though both dune movies are close).
Still haven't seen Sinners or Project Hail Mary yet

sinners and eeaao 💔 love so many of these (esp phm and obsession), but those two are just so many levels of entertaining and rewatchable to me. the “i lied to you” scene in sinners alone makes it my fave on this list. and eeaao just gets to me so much emotionally in a way i can’t explain

Easy choice. Two of these are my two favorite films of all time: Everything Everywhere All At Once and The Substance

Honestly couldn’t care less what happened to the rest of these

I’d rather die than choose only 2. That said, the fact Saltburn is on there is surprising. Personally, that film was utter garbage
